So, I know people have been begging for an update. This is short, but I suspect one or two people might call cliffy, which means I'll be required to update within 24 hours. :D
Ely:
I followed the guys into our apartment and, at Shawn's signal, I moved quietly into the kitchen to inspect the damage. I looked over the damage carefully, making sure I stayed out of the way of the officials. One of the officials claimed it looked like an accident; perhaps someone had left the stove on while the occupants had been out of the house. The other two seemed to agree with her. How is it that a sixteen year old could do their job better than they could? Sure, I'd been trained for this sort of thing, but this was their job.
I shook my head, but stayed silent. Everything I had seen indicated that someone had started the fire. I looked around for a chemistry set that I knew I wouldn't find. I just wanted to be able to say I checked and that it was definitely not Jordan's fault.
I silently moved away from the scene of the crime, making sure that my shoes didn't leave foot prints in the blackened marks on the floor. I walked swiftly to our shared room and saw that Jordan was in there alone, shoving things into his bag. "What did your clothing do to you?" I asked, noting that he was shoving his clothes in the bag like he was trying to throttle the life out of them first.
He looked a little lost and his dark eyes lost a bit of their anger, "Hey, El. What did you find?" He watched me warily, as if expecting the worst.
I shrugged, "The only thing I found is that they're going to rule it as an accident, but it wasn't. The burn marks don't match up with something that burned from the stove. It's similar, but not one hundred percent."
He took a deep breath and slowly exhaled as he nodded. "Go pack your crap up. Shawn wants to leave as soon as we can."
I wrinkled my nose, as the smell of smoke got stronger as I walked to my old room. I wondered if we'd get to come back once they fixed this mess or if we'd end up living somewhere else entirely. I threw everything I'd need and want into my duffle bag, and when I went to the living room to wait for the guys. I was surprised to find out that I was the first one finished. Weren't guys usually the ones who ended up waiting on the girl? I set my bag down on the coffee table and rested my feet on the couch cushion as I sat on the arm of the couch. I was tired and I'd been looking forward to a nice, hot shower, but I guessed that would have to wait for quite a while now.
It seemed to be taking them quite a while to pack their stuff up, but I waited patiently for a bit. I yawned, and then stood up. I needed to move around to keep myself from falling asleep.
As I stood up, the sound of glass shattering made me spin around. What the heck was-? An explosion went off, flames licked at my skin, heat engulfed me.
