A/N: I know, it's been forever and three years since my last Assassins update. At some point, I plan on rewriting this entire mess of a story, because I still love Ely and her guys, but that won't be for a while.
For those who haven't seen, I've recently published two books (Draken Genesis and Draken Destiny), and both are available via Amazon. I'm currently working on three other stories for publishing, and Assassins will take a lot of work and planning to start writing again, but I thought I'd give y'all a teaser that I don't think I've shared before.
Enjoy!
Hot chick vs. Australian Accent
Ely:
"You want us to do what?!" I screeched.
"Sh! Not so loud!" Jordan placed a finger over my lips.
"You want us to do what?" I repeated in a softer voice.
"We have to! Tomorrow is Dom's birthday and Shawn is busy all day in meetings! Would you rather go by ourselves, or not get him that gift at all?"
I heaved a sigh. "Fine. But this was all your idea, so when he wants to kill someone, it'll be you." As soon as the words were out of my mouth, I regretted giving in.
He grinned at me. "Good. Let's go. I got his keys. I sent Shawn a text to let him know where we were at. Dom's at the range, now's our chance!" He grabbed my hand and pulled me clear out to the parking lot from our apartment.
"I'm coming! You don't need to yank my arm out of its socket!"
He pushed me towards the passenger side of the small Honda. "You weren't moving fast enough!" He replied with a smirk as he got in behind the wheel.
"Whose car is this?" I frowned as I tried to remember if I'd ever seen it before.
He grinned. "One of Dominic's."
I sighed. "Do we need GPS?" Hopefully, he'd say yes.
"Nope, I know exactly where we're going."
I rolled my eyes. Now, where had I heard that before?
~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~
I was pretty sure we'd been driving in circles for forty minutes. Jordan turned on his right turn signal and I sighed. "Did you realize that turning right here will have taken us around the block... for the third time?"
Jordan shot me a look, and then he finally growled out, "Fine! Pull out that stupid GPS."
I did, putting in our destination. "Turn left at the next intersection." The GPS on my phone said in a very hot Australian accent.
Jordan made a face. "Seriously, Sunshine? Can't you change the voice on that thing?"
"NO!" I shouted possessively. He wasn't going to change my mind on this either.
He mumbled something to himself as my hot Aussie said, "At the next light, make a U turn."
I glared at Jordan. "Had you not been so intent on changing Thor's voice, you wouldn't have missed that turn!"
He growled something unpleasant before practically shouting, "If you had just changed it from that stupid male accent, I wouldn't have been concentrating on trying to get you to change it!"
I scowled at him and he shook his head, finally finding an opportunity to make a U turn.
Fifteen minutes later, Jordan had pulled the car over. "Give me that fucking thing!" He grabbed for it. I attempted to hold it out of his reach, but it was plugged in and I could only move it so far.
He fiddled with it for a few moments, and then started driving again. "Make a right turn after the Shell station," a very feminine voice said.
"Seriously? Don't mess with my GPS again!" I quickly changed it back to that hot Australian voice.
We missed the next two turns because of our arguing. We finally made it to the store we had been looking for.
