Lylas POV
I dragged my feet across the old floorboards and wandered into mine and faiths bedroom it was small not much bigger than the bathroom infact, but then again our whole town was small and I just couldn't wait to go and explore the city .
I pulled our shared suitcase up from under my bed and began packing the minimal clothes I actually owned.
I walked over to the full length mirror and faith was stood behind me cramming things into the case.
I looked at my reflection and pushed my dark brown hair out of my face.
I turned on my heel to face faith.
"You know I just want to get out there now I'm unbelievably excited." I cried unable to hold in my excitement.

"We're actually going to be in the city with everyone we've ever wanted to be and it feels like a dream you know." I said sitting on the edge of the bed.
Faith nodded,
"aren't you scared though ?" I screwed my face up and shrugged.

"Think about it we've never been out of Alabama and now were going to one of the biggest cities in the world!" Faith said zipping up the case.

"Yeah but this is what we've wanted our whole lives ." I explained to her .

"I know , I guess I'm just going to miss home a bit." She forced a smile.

"It will be great." I said helping her lug the case down stairs so it was ready by the door for when we left in a couple days time.
The next morning I was woke up by the usual everyday alarm clock.
I rolled over and slammed my hand over the clock and sat up. I rubbed my eyes and checked the time . It was six o'clock.
Faith and I had to take it in turns to go feed the farm animals and look after our family farm . Typically it was my day to go out . I stumbled out of bed and dragged myself into the bathroom I brushed my teeth and tied my hair back so it was out of my face, I splashed my face of water and applied some colour to my lips. I was more awake by this time and I pulled on a pair of shorts and an old plaid top. I then padded downstairs in just my socks before pulling on my boots and walking outside.
I grabbed the massive bucket of food and painfully poured each animals food into their troths.
I then made my way into the horses stable where I had to muck them out, I had never been good with horses and to be fair neither had faith. So I tried my best at attempting to muck them out .
"Lyla.." I heard a voice say from behind me. I dropped my spade into the hay and turned around.
Behind me stood a boy named Jay, his family owned the farm across from ours and he would usually pop by the days I was working.

"Hi jay." I said sweeping the back of my hand across my forehead.

"I hear you're leaving ." He spoke.
I squinted my eyes trying to block out the sun that was now rising, I nodded.

"Into the city ." I added

"Im gonna miss you." He said leaning against the frame of the stable.

"Oh we'll be back." I smiled reassuringly .

"In a year." He sighed
I screwed my face up.

"Well are you gonna help me muck this place out ." I laughed , I had always had jay help me the mornings I worked . I turned and passed him a spade as he laughed and ran his hands through his dirty blonde hair .
