Chapter Nine
Trapped. Cornered. Imprisoned.
NO. This is not happening. I'm just having a horrible nightmare.
I blinked my eyes, several times. But he was real. He was staring at me like a monster again.
I transferred my eyes to the metal door behind him and noticed the fingerprint sensor lock. How could I possibly get out of that door? I looked around figuring out where to escape before facing the monster again.
"If this is your idea of a joke, it's not funny." I said firmly at him and grabbed my bag and the brown envelope tightly in front of my chest. God knows how much I tried to appear calm. I didn't want to give him the satisfaction of knowing that deep inside my body, I was trembling with fear and panic.
He just smirked and moved closer to me. His forefinger suddenly lifted and caressed my jaw. "Believe me, I've never been so serious in my life. You're my wife, Rachel, and you're going to remain my wife for as long as we live. I'm not a fool letting you go and marry another man."
I slapped his hand away from my face and stepped backward. I couldn't control the panic inside me anymore.
"YOU LIED! You planned this all along. Making me come here in New York and inviting me for dinner. You made me believe that you'll sign the divorce paper." I kept on stepping backward until my back was pressed on one of the pillars.
"I don't do divorce."
"What? Your parents got divorced!"
"Right. That's why I don't want my marriage to be like them."
"You're a bastard!"
Ares stayed where he was. His eyes never left mine.
"Get me out of here or you'll be sorry. This is kidnapping." I gritted my teeth. "I'll make sure you'll rot in jail if you won't let me leave this damn house now!" I threatened him, trying my best to be firm.
He looked amused. He folded his arms together on his chest. "This damn house happens to be our conjugal property. Grandpa gave this as his wedding gift to us. So, you can't be kidnapped in your own house and by your own husband."
Conjugal property? No way! I don't want this house or his money. I don't want Ares Niarchos and anything that is associated with him. I just want to get out of this house with the signed divorce paper... and I'm off thousands and thousands miles away from him.
I dug my phone inside my bag. Where is it? I opened the side pocket but it was not there. My heart pounded so fast. I was so sure I had my cellphone with me when I came here.
"Damn you. Where's my phone."
He shrugged his shoulders and calmly walked towards the bar. He poured himself a liquor then sat on the bar stool.
"Give me my phone." I went closer to him. I couldn't control my anger now. "You have NO RIGHT to take it." I gritted my teeth and clenched my hands so tightly.
How could he take my phone? I couldn't live without my phone. I have everything there. My contacts, my To-Do list, my messages and my important files.
He didn't answer. He just continued staring at me. Ugh! I hate him.
Psychotic monster.
He can't trap me here. I have to get out, and I need my phone in order to do that. Oh Drew... if only I can call Drew. He'll be here right away and rescue me.
"Are you deaf? I said, GIVE ME MY PHONE!" I snapped at him.
"I heard you, Rachel. You don't have to shout." He lifted his glass of liquor into his mouth when I grabbed it out of his hand and splashed it on his face.
