Chapter Seventeen
"Don't flirt with Kane." Ares said curtly the moment we were outside Mr. Niarchos' room. His eyes were flat and filled with dislike.
"Excuse me?" I was puzzled by his sudden change of mood.
"I saw your eyes glow when you talked to him." He snapped at me again.
"What are you talking about? I was just being nice. He's your cousin..."
"You're too nice!" He walked towards the dining room and I followed him. We were going to have our lunch.
"Oh, so that's not allowed?"
He stopped in mid stride and turned. "Are you blind? Can't you see he's flirting with you? He finds you attractive."
Well, that's flattering. I said to myself.
"What if he does? It doesn't mean that I'm going to hop on bed with him."
"Do that and I'm going to kill both of you." His eyes were dark and stony with anger. Then he turned and continued walking towards the dining room.
He pulled a chair from the dining table for me and I sat down.
"Why are you not wearing any shoes?"
"Um... My feet are sore. I forgot to bring my other shoes. I only brought the high heeled stilettos I've been using.
I was caught off guard when he suddenly knelt and took my feet.
His fingers were warm and strong as he grasped my feet. He traced my bruises tenderly. I had a wildest urge to jump back. His touch was so electrifying, igniting the sleeping nerves of my body.
"We'll go shopping after lunch." He said while giving sensuous massage on my feet.
I nodded, not trusting myself to speak. What he was doing to my feet made me feel breathless.
Oh God... Ares. What are you doing to me...
I stared at his face. He was a very handsome man despite his scar. I couldn't help it. He was so disturbing to me... in every way.
I started falling for him again. I was powerless to resist. His eyes, so compelling... his lips, so sensual... his body, I want to worship... his voice, affected me so deeply... and his nearness made my senses spin.
Oh God, help me. What is wrong with me? Why am I feeling this way?
"Ares."
He looked up and saw his eyes burning with desire.
"Rachel."
We held eyes... and slowly... I felt his hands move upward, sensuously... deliciously... from my feet to my knees, pushing my long summer dress up to my thigh.
He was moving towards me, closer... and closer...
"Hey, what's going on?" I jerked up when I heard Kane.
Ares stood up and sat down beside me. "Rachel's feet are sore."
"What happened?" Kane asked then sat down on a chair, opposite to where Ares was sitting.
"Wearing too much killer heels." Ares replied.
The three of us had lunch. I just listened to them talking, mostly about business.
"So how long have you been married?" Kane asked.
My eyes widened. I looked at Ares and he looked at me.
"Seven years." Ares answered.
"That long huh?" Kane smiled, wiping his lips with the table napkin. "Actually, I didn't know that you got married. I was surprised you didn't invite me. I'm the closest relative you've got."
