Chapter Ten
I won't sleep until I'll get out of here!
I was desperate to escape.
Ares went up to his room and left me alone downstairs. I took the chance to check the doors and windows again, but all were either securely locked or with bars. I couldn't get out of the house. I felt like I was in a prison cell.
I need a phone... to call mom or Drew, or anyone...
There was no landline phone in the living room. I went to the kitchen, to the dining room... to the library and music room. I couldn't find one. There used to have one in every room. I remembered Mr. Niarchos' study room. In a hurry, I went there, but it was closed.
Feeling exhausted, I headed to the Rose room.
I was surprised. The room was still the same when I left it seven years ago. I looked around. Everything was still in place, like I just left the bedroom yesterday.
I moved to the vanity table and touched the edges of the wood with my fingertips. It was surprisingly clean. I opened the drawers and saw my hairbrushes, powder, cologne and other things I left there.
I walked towards my closet. The first thing I saw when I opened it was my wedding gown... so virginal white.
I cringed when I saw it. I hated the dress. It brought back the horrible memories again. Reminded me why I came here.
I opened the closet wider. My clothes were still there. A few jeans, shirts, sweaters, dresses and jackets. All shabby except for the wedding dress.
I closed the closet and faced the bed.
The antique phone!
My spirit lifted up when I saw the phone. But all hopes immediately diminished the moment I lifted the receiver. It was dead.
I lay down in the drowsy warmth of the bed, feeling so defeated. My body was throbbing like I was in a race. I stretched my limbs then curled my body like a shrimp. I was so tired and had this heart sinking feeling.
God help me...
I'm so stupid. Why did I believe him that he would sign the divorce paper? Why did I allow myself to fall on his bait?
Thinking.
Planning.
I have to get out of here.... Sooner...
I yawned and closed my eyes.

I woke up at dawn. I was immediately wide awake. Fully aware of my surroundings.
I have to get out of this place now. I'm going to do anything to escape, even bribe that devil.
I took a quick shower and was still thinking of my plans. I have to convince him to let me go or else I would use my contingency plans of action.
I took my luggage near the door and changed into a black button up shirt and skinny blue jeans. I opened my luggage again, searching for my sneakers.
Darn it, I forgot my sneakers!
I had no choice but to use my black stiletto shoes last night again.
I checked the time. It was almost six in the morning. Time to make a move.
Slowly, I left the rose room.
I sneaked and checked the entire house downstairs. The study room was still locked. I was positive that there was a phone inside and Ares obviously used the room now that his grandfather moved out of the house.
