Lunch break

"How much did you guys score?" Luna asked me, giving her money to the cashier.

"I don't know." I took out a napkin and went to find a seat.

"What do you mean, you don't know?" She asked me, again.

"The judges, eh," I tried to think of a lie. "They went to the bathroom and got stuck, so Mr. Robinson told us to go home?"

"You, my friend, are a terrible liar." She said as she sat down.

"Excuse me, Kylie." Someone patted my shoulder. "Can you come with me?"

"I'm eating." I took a bite of my sandwich and turned around to see who wants me in their classroom. "Savannah?!"

"Nice to see you too." She smiled.

"Why are you here?" I asked her.

"I need to talk to you." She replied. "Come to classroom 33 B, after your lessons." And with that she turned around in her heels and walked away from us.

After lessons

*knock* *knock*

"Come in!" Savannah shouted.

"So," I said while making myself comfortable in a chair. "What's up?"

She handed me a document folder.

"What's this?" I asked.

"I've been a judge for 6 years now. Here are 6 papers. In each one of them, there are written scores of second category from the winners." She replied, opening the oldest document.

"2010 April 16, First place - "The Sinners", total score: 189, score from second category: 19." I read out loud. "2011 April 16, First place - "The Sunshine", total score: 206, score from second category: 26."

"Now, open the newest." She commented.

"2015 April 16, First place - "Unknown", total score: 237. Score from second category: 37."

"And here's, 2016 January's 16 document."

"We decided to let "The Budgets" with 191 points go to the finals. "The Healers" scored 186 from 200."

I felt a slim coat of tears in my eyes, but I desperately fought them back.

"Skip to the second category." Savannah said.

""The Budgets" scored 18." I stopped. "This is bullshit. He was so much better than me. He had brilliant techniques!"

"Bad manners. It's not an electric guitar." She commented. "Continue."

""The Healers", second category - 59." I stared at the blank paper. "So?"

"You scored the most points in 6 years. You're better than anybody who played with a bass guitar. And it's not even the finals! It just proves how much attention you could earn!"

"But... A bass guitar isn't supposed to play solos! I don't want to be given those points just for my scenery impression!"

"I'm sorry, kid, but you're a keeper. So that's why, I'm giving you an option." I nodded. "Play solos, help celebrities in their concerts with live music. You'll be famous."

"I dont need that!" I shouted. "Can't you understand?! Music is everything to me, I don't care about scenery impressions! I shouldn't have done that in the first place!"
