The weeks following Willow's attack found Raven more determined than ever. She and Jake devoted themselves to training, preparing for the inevitable confrontation. Their basement became a makeshift dojo, filled with the sounds of combat practice and spell work.

"Control your breathing, Raven," Jake instructed, circling her as she faced the practice dummy. "Focus on your target. Let your magic flow naturally."

Raven channeled her energy, launching an attack with such force that Jake, attempting to block it, stumbled backward. Her power was growing, but so was her obsession with becoming stronger.

Late one night, Jake woke to find her side of the bed empty. He found her in the basement, her magic crackling around her as she practiced combat forms.

"Raven, you need to rest," he said softly, touching her shoulder. "You're pushing yourself too hard."

She shrugged him off, her voice tight with exhaustion. "I have to get stronger. Willow won't stop until—"

"Until she hurts one of us, I know," Jake finished. "But killing yourself with exhaustion won't help." He could see her swaying slightly, dark circles under her eyes betraying her fatigue. Making a quick decision, he retrieved a small vial from his pocket—a sleeping draught he'd prepared just in case.

"Here, at least drink some water," he offered. As she drank, her eyes grew heavy, and he caught her as she slumped forward.

"That should give her the rest she needs," he whispered, carrying her upstairs.

The next morning, Jake woke to find Raven still deeply asleep, curled against his chest. He carefully extracted himself, trying not to wake her. The sleeping draught had done its job—she looked peaceful for the first time in days.

When she finally stirred, it was past noon. "Everything hurts," she groaned, trying to sit up.

"That's what happens when you push yourself too hard," Jake said, gently pressing her back onto the pillows. "You need to rest."

Raven's eyes met his—a mix of frustration and affection in her gaze. "I can't rest. Not while she's out there."

"We'll face her together," Jake promised, pulling her close. "But first, you need to heal. To be strong enough for both of us."

Raven finally relented, letting herself relax in his arms. Soon, she drifted off again, exhaustion claiming her. Jake watched her sleep, worry etched on his face. He knew their confrontation with Willow was coming—he just hoped they'd both be ready when it did.
