Chapter 1 ~ The Message

Hi, I'm Chloe, I am 15 years old and I don't know much about my past. The other day I got this iMessage from an out of state number who claims to be my sister, weird right. Well, today I think that I have the guts to tell my dad about it. I feel nervous only because I don't know what his reaction is going to be. My dad is a pretty easy guy to read but sometimes when a topic like this comes up I never know his reaction. He could easily be angry, sad, or even excited that I know where mom is.

Ok, I tell myself, you can just walk down these steps, pull out your phone and tell him. I get down the steps and I start pouring my self a bowl of cereal. And all of the sudden my dad comes storming down the stairs.

"Good morning Clover," my dad says

He's been calling be that ever since I was little and I hate it. The only other nickname he has ever given me is Coco and I hated that one even more.

"Morning dad" I debating whether or not I should tell him about the messages.

"Hey, dad I need to tell you something," I say quietly hoping he heard me and I won't have to repeat myself.

"What is it, Clover? You know you can tell me anything"

Ah, why does he have to use such generic lines?

"I know it's just a really sensitive topic for us."

"Ok..."

"Well the other day I got a text message from someone who claims to be my twin and lives with supposedly our mom in Kentucky," I say feeling anxious to see his reaction.

"Yeah, we need to talk about that. Come sit down..."
