BAZ
I was no longer in the warmth of Simon's bedroom. Instead I was thrown into a cold, dark dungeon with only slivers of light coming from cracks in the wall and ceiling. The smell of blood hung in the air. It was all around me.
There were various instruments of torture hanging on shelves at each end of the room. Many of which were soaked with blood. But the spot with the most blood was right where I was sitting. There was a huge pool just inches away from me. If I didn't know any better it looked like a vampire who was fond of playing with their food.

SIMON
As soon as I saw her she was gone. Seconds after the girl vanished before my eyes the fire disappeared too. Nothing was damaged. It was like the fire was never here. In the girls place stood Baz, barely able to stay on his own feet.
He fell to his knees as I ran to him. He looked dazed but not injured as far as I knew.
"Baz, what happened?!" I knelt down in front of him and grasped his shoulders. He was silent for a few seconds then suddenly snapped back into reality.
"I don't know," he said looking at me right in the eyes, "One second I was here then the next I was-" he cut himself off and broke eye contact.
"Where?" I demanded.
"I don't know. It was dark."
I felt like he wasn't telling me everything, I wanted to push for more details, but the expression on his face told me to just drop the subject for now.
"I was so scared, Baz, I thought I was going to lose you." I admitted.
He took me in his arms and I shivered at his touch. Every second he held me I could feel myself start to relax.
"You will never lose me, Snow." He then planted a kiss on my lips. It was brief but full of passion and in that moment I forgot all of what happened today. All my mind could do was think of kissing him again and stay in his embrace forever.

I refused to let him go to his own flat when night finally fell. Baz didn't protest because he knew it was for the better. Now we just lied face to face in my bed with our fingers linked with each other's.
Baz played with my fingers in silence until he finally fell asleep. He was completely drained in the hours after the fire but he refused to rest. He and I talked on the floor while Penelope researched for the rest of the day. But the memories of the blazing fire and the girl itched in the back of my mind and wouldn't go away.
Now that Baz was asleep I felt like now I can finally relax. When I see the calmness in his sleeping face I can't help but feel it for myself.
"I love you," I whisper then I kiss his forehead.
His lips twitched into a lazy smile and he grumbled slightly. That was the best 'I love you too' I've ever gotten from him. I couldn't help but smile and hold him close.

PENELOPE
The train to Watford was long and excruciatingly quiet. Simon was on edge the whole time; terrified if Baz was going to have one of his fits again. And throughout the trip Baz desperately tried to reassure him that he was okay. But I don't think Simon was entirely convinced.
I was slumped against the window of the train fighting to stay awake. Watching the world zoom past me in a green blur. I had been up all night buried in the books I had at my disposal. I read everything that could possibly explain what was going on. But I found nothing that definitively answered anything.
Right as I was beginning to fall asleep the train lurched to a stop and Simon's hand was on my shoulder. I groaned and tried to shake the grogginess away but it clung on tightly to my mind and wouldn't let go.
"Come on, Penelope," whispered Simon.
I groggily grabbed the small bag I brought with me and stumbled out of the train. The brightness of the outside stung my tired eyes. The air was crisp but slightly warmed by the beaming sun. I just now realized that spring was coming faster than I thought. You could hardly see the snow on the ground anymore.
Baz summoned a cab with his wand and we all climbed in the backseat. Simon sandwiched himself in the middle between Baz and I. His leg bounced the whole way to Watford.
I think Baz gave up trying to calm him down. He just stared out the window, his hands steepled under his chin, and watched the world go by. I noticed that his eyes were glassy and his skin was grayer than usual. I just hoped that nothing would get worse from here.
The giant steel gates in front of Watford came into view and my breath hitched slightly. It's almost been a year since I've even seen Watford. Even after my mother became headmistress I didn't see any reason to go back. I thought that chapter of my life was over but now I'm realizing that a new one is just beginning and it has lead me right back to where the last one started.
The three of us somberly walked to the gate and I pulled out my wand and held it up. The barrier sensed my magic and the gate opened with a heavy creak. Simon held his breath as we stepped onto the cobble road on the other side of the gate.
I glanced over at him and he gave me a reassuring nod. His wings twitched under his jacket indicating that he was nervous. But I think we all were honestly.
We reached the door of my mothers office at the top of Weeping Tower. I couldn't help but smile at the plaque reading ,"HEADMISTRESS BUNCE," screwed onto the heavy wooden door.
I opened the door slowly and took a step inside. The office looked about as chaotic as my fathers lab back home. Piles of books were stacked almost to the ceiling. It made me nervous seeing the books teetering to one side as if they were waiting for someone to get too close so they can fall on top of them. Papers were scattered all over the wide desk and even more were crumpled up and overflowed the waste basket in the corner.
My mum sat at the desk feverishly writing something down on a scrap of fresh parchment. She hadn't even noticed we were there yet.
I cleared my throat, "Mum?" I said.
She looked up in surprise and peered at me through her thick glasses and smiled.
"Penelope, what a surprise! Come in, come in."
I walked up to her desk and Simon and Baz trailed behind me.
"What brings you three here?" She said piling the papers on her desk and pushing them aside.
I couldn't find the right words to explain our situation. I think Baz could sense that I was struggling and stepped in.
"We have a problem," he said.
