The next day Harry sat beside the lake and concentrated on his core. He felt his body reshape itself painlessly and he opened his eyes, he was too big to be a house cat. He peered into the lake and gave a catty grin, happy with his reflection. He turned to spot Shamus in his hell hound form that stared at each other for a while an then had a great idea.
Eames's first sight upon reaching the sanctuary was of a winged large black cat wrestling with a hell hound while no one else seemed to think this was odd. Even Minerva was simply smiling. "What's going on?" He asked.
"Mr Potter and Mr Finnegan are play fighting. You'll notice that over night Mrs Greengrass and Mr Finnegan were pulled into the friend circle." She answered. "Mrs Abbott was early this morning. The boy has infectious charm and allure. Seems he's a Panther, rather fitting I think."
"I don't doubt that for a second. He's quite a creature isn't he?" Eames gazed at the panther before him, not quite a kitten and not quite an adult. The was a sharp whistle and the play fight stopped, Snape had stepped into the room and past Harry who's fur stood on end as Harry avoided making any contact with the potions master, there was a tense relationship between the two, Eames could tell.
"Tomorrow marks the fifth day you've been here." Snape began ignoring Harry slinking as far away as he could. "Members of the DDS Union will be expecting a detailed report from your guards about whether their placement is a pleasant one, so until they have completed this you are to stay in the sanctuary." Harry had made it over to Eames' side and looked up at him with curious green eyes.
"I did mine last night." Eames said picking up on the silent question. "You're free to go where you wish to." There was a deep rumble in Harry's throat, he was purring. A very catty thank you. Harry refused to turn back to his human form as they walked around the school. The start of the year was drawing close and a few early birds had started to show up. Including but not limited to the 3 Hufflepuffs, 6 Ravenclaws, 2 Gryffindors and 4 Slytherins, Harry had spotted them the previous day on the way back from Honeydukes.
---"This way Pansy- my goodness!" Lavender Brown skidded to a halt before she ran into a large black cat. It looked up at her with large green eyes and lazily flicked its tail. Pansy Parkinson came up behind her and cooed.
"It's so cute." She breathed, the cat dismissed her and started to walk away, but Lavender cut it off.
"I don't think he likes being called cute." A tall man replied.
"Is he yours?" Lavender asked. The man shook his head.
"That's a student ladies." He answered.
"A student! Oh one of the inherited? Oh how darling." Pansy cried. "Who is it?" The man looked down at the big cat who made a shrugging movement.
"It's Harry Potter." The man said. The girls gasped and cooed and did all kinds of silly things to try and get Harry to let them pat him. He wasn't interested in that though he wanted to see if his friends were around yet. He doubted it though, they always came on the first day.
"Harry." The breathy voice was none other than Luna who walked past and put a hand on his head. "Tippy informed me that there is a dance going on outside amongst some of the other students, perhaps you'd like to come with me?" Luna seemed oblivious to Pansy and Lavender's fuming. Harry nodded and followed her down, Sarah and Eames trailing behind them. Mid way down the stair case Harry morphed back making Lavender and Pansy gasp and whisper among themselves.
"You really have a skill doing that so smoothly, Harry." Sarah mused.
"Mm, it's rather comfortable to wonder around like a cat." Harry sighed stretching. "Until someone calls you cute and tried to scratch behind your ear." Luna giggled and led the others down and out to where indeed some of the students were dancing around like fools. Luna joined in dragging Sarah with her, Harry and Eames stood off to the side.
