They were to claim the golden egg from the type of dragon they draw from the bag. Fleur drew out a common welsh green dragon. Viktor Krum drew a Chinese fireball dragon. Cedric drew out a Swedish Shortsnout. Leveret Monroe drew a Norwegian Double Wing. Jessie Finch got a common welsh red dragon. Harry reached into the bag and drew out a Hungarian Horntail, supposedly on of the most vicious and possessive dragons there is. To make matters worse they were all female and would guard the egg aggressively. Harry was made to listen as all the other champions save for Jessie Finch who was badly burnt and couldn't go on, collected their eggs. Was he going to end up like Jessie or was he going to do worse? He didn't have very high hopes. The only one there who could comfort him was Eames, who simply told him to follow his instinct.

"My instinct is telling me to head for the hills." Harry grumbled.

"And now!" The announcer said. "The youngest champion since Hansel Bagot, Harry Potter against the Hungarian Horntail." Harry stepped out and spotted the egg in the centre. The dragon was let out and Harry's senses were on fire and apparently so was the ground. Harry dived behind a rock as a torrent of flames went by, luckily for Harry the dragons aim was terrible and it didn't seem all to bright. He peeked from behind the rock to see the dragon had moved to reach him around the rock, maybe he'd thought to soon thinking it wasn't very smart. Without even thinking he dived left and ended even further from the egg than before and with the dragon breathing fire left and right Harry had little chance of getting around or under the dragon. 'So go over.' Hissed a part of his mind. It made sense, the dragon was smart enough to know he didn't have any visible means of getting over her. Which was why he'd be able to jump her and go over. He ducked behind a rock barely noticing the commentary describing his movements as 'valiantly dancing before the dragon'. He snorted, he was trying not to become wind cat barbecue. Out of sight of the dragon Harry grasped his core, he'd only meant to go half but ended up going full which in the long run was better because now he was smaller and harder to track. The dragon was confused by the same scent and different shape and Harry took this moment to soar up and over the dragon once at the egg he realised the cons to his beast form. No hands. He concentrated on the egg and managed to draw out his core's magic, which was primarily air based. The egg levitated before him and he grunted and turned. How he'd forgotten there was an angry mama dragon was beyond him but she was pissed. And now they were currently snout to snout. By this point he was almost as pissed as she was, he'd been mentally cursing the stupid cup for drawing his name. She let out a low growl and Harry returned it instinctively making himself as big as possible.

"Is... Is Harry having a dominance match with a dragon?" The commentator gasped. Surely it looked funny, a smaller than average winged panther with his chest out, his fur puffed, his tail lashing from side to side and his wings spread out to their tips, the only thing down was his ears, pressed so tightly to his skull it looked like he didn't have any. Harry's growl escalated in volume until his mouth opened wide, teeth bared and a thundering roar echoed through the stadium. The Horntail was startled enough to back up which impressed everyone, including Harry who was blessing the Earth Father as he'd come to do when his courage shined through. When his cunning did he thanked the Sky Mother, deciding to embrace his race's beliefs. Once he had the room with the egg floating beside him he took off into the air. Out of her daze the Horntail growled and took off after him. If she was pissed before she was volcanic now. 'Speak to it.' Hissed a voice. 'Dragons are serpents.' Harry stopped and landed on a tall rock beside the Beauxbaton's part of the stadium and took his half form, the egg safely floating behind him.

"Stop this nonsense." He hissed in parseltongue.

"You speak my language?!" The dragon recoiled.

"Yes I do, now stop, this egg is mine."

"Nonsense it's mine."

"Listen to me, the humans gave it to you, so you would protect it. Smell it." The egg floated over to the dragon's nostrils, it inhales and hissed in distaste. "This is not a dragon egg. It is a replacement. Let me take it."
