Question asked by Anonymous:  Somehow, I'm always negative and unhappy about life. I don't trust others, I distance myself from others, I hurt others' feelings, and more. And now, I feel like a part of me wants to kill everybody. (I KNOW! It's dangerous!) I can restrain myself, but everyday it gets worse. And the first thing I did was always bang my head on the wall. A lot. What should I do to prevent this side of mine?

A. I know this feeling all too well. I'm more of a pessimist than an optimist myself, to be honest. But somewhere along the line, I think we all have to learn to let go of these negative emotions, and start opening our eyes to the good things around us. The more positive you are, the more happy you'll be.

One way to start being more positive and happy is to practice gratitude. I know, things may be extremely tough for you right now but trust me, if you look closely enough, there will definitely be a few things that you can be happy with and thankful for. Another way is to surround yourself with positivity. Are there any negative people in your life? People who just completely ruin your feelings and good mood? If yes, then that could be one of the reasons for your unhappiness. Distance yourself from these people, they'll just add more unhappiness to your life. Do more of what makes you happy, and less of what triggers your sadness.

As for the trusting others part, I think that's up to you to decide. I don't blame you for not trusting others; a lot of times, trust leads to heartbreak. It's okay to build walls and not let people in. If keeping a distance from a person who's caused you sadness or whom you've caused sadness to is, in my opinion, okay. It's okay to not to always trust people. Just make sure you don't always show your distrust outwardly.

Now, coming to the part where you feel like killing everybody- I think a lot of us have felt this way before. A good way to control this emotion is to be better than all these people. For example, let's imagine that this particular girl you hate and feel like killing gets better grades than you. Then work harder, and beat her on your next unit test. Always strive to be better than all these people, and never let them put you down.

And, please don't bang your head against the wall! Don't hurt yourself; you don't deserve it. Every time you feel like doing it, just take a deep breath and try to calm yourself down. One thing I've seen many people do is buy a punching bag, pretend it's their worst enemy, and then punch the living shit out of that bag. Just please don't harm yourself, in any way.

I hope this helped! If you have anything else to talk to us about, then please do let us know!
