I stared in awe at the beautiful boy in front of me. His skin was fair and (j-)flawless. He was skinny, but lean. His light brown hair fell perfectly across his forehead. He was so perfect. My heart fluttered as I continued to eye him.

I was brought back into reality when my mom gripped my thigh under the table and harshly whispered, "What are you doing? Shake his hand and introduce yourself."

"O-oh...Hi, I'm Jackson," I managed to say. I shakily reached out to grab Mark's hand. His handshake was firm, revealing that he probably had a lot of strength.

"Honey, Mark - Both of you have a seat. You guys must be hungry," my mom sweetly said to them.

Mark took the seat directly across from me. I began to stare again. It was hard not to look at someone so amazingly chiseled and perfect. How does someone like that even exist? Is he even real?

I was lost in thought again. I was once again snapped back into reality when my mother shook my shoulder and called my name.

"Jackson! It's your turn to order. You're the only one who hasn't said anything."

Shit, I was too busy looking at Mark that I didn't even look at the damn menu.

"Um...I'll take the Xiao Long Bao," I said to the waiter without even knowing what was on the menu.

My mom face palmed and Mark let out a chuckle. Oh god, his laugh is so cute.

"Jackson...THIS ISN'T A CHINESE RESTAURANT. WE'RE AT CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN."

My face immediately blushed and all I wanted to do was run away and hide. I just made a fool of myself in front of Mark...ugh. What a great first impression.

"Sorry, sir. My son will just take pasta," my mom apologized to the waiter before turning her attention to me. "Jackson, what's up with you? You've been out of it all day, are you alright?"

I looked down at my hands silently and nodded, too embarrassed to speak. I didn't want to look up, I didn't want to make eye contact with Mark. WHY AM I SUCH AN IDIOT?!

"Haha...Dear, I think he's just nervous today. I would be too if I were meeting new people," Mark's father said. His voice was masculine, yet comforting.

"Sorry about Jackson. I think he's just a little out of it today. He isn't normally like this."

My step-father-to-be turned in my direction. "Jackson," he started, making my eyes lift up, "I know the news was sudden.  I understand that all of this will be new to you. However, this is also a new start for Mark. You guys are both in the same situation. As brothers, it would be great if you guys could use the opportunity to get closer."

Brothers...brothers...

The word hit me like a bullet.

Of course...he's gonna be my brother. I can't find my own brother attractive. That's a sin.

He's going to be my brother...and that's all he'll ever be to me...
