Poe Dameron hopped into the ship. He tried his best to gaze over the dash board of the fighter. The window was dusty. A gust of wind blew through the cracks in the old ship. He shivered and pulled his his coat closer to him. He was starting to wonder if wandering of was a good idea.
"Poe!" A voice yelled into the old rebel base on hoth. It was his older sister Sandy. Poe and his family lived on hoth in a cave near the old rebel base.
"Yeah?" Poe yelled back to her. His voice echoed through the hanger.
"Mom says you have to come home."
"Why."
"Your too little."
"She let you go to lake to get water one time by yourself."
"I'm four years older."
"Three."
"Four."
"I just turned ten one week ago and your thirteen so three."
"Ok well you still have to come home. Fin just got back from hunting." Fin was their 17 year old brother who was the man of the house. Poe was always excited when Fin came home, especially with food so he gave into Sandy's pleading.
Poe and Sandy trudged through the snow to their cave. In order to enter their home they pulled a hatch which connected to a trap door. Once they opened the door they had to climb down a pair of steps made of ice. They would often slip and fall when they first made them but then Fin built a railing to prevent injury. Their cave had three bedrooms, a kitchen with a stove and a sitting area, a living room with carpets piled in a corner for lounging, and a bathroom with a toilet that actually flushed.
"Poe! How many times have I told you don't wander of alone. You never know what could eat you." Ever since her husband died from a Wampa attack Donnie Dameron usually never let her three children outside unless Fin was going hunting. But even then she was always terrified when he left and would pace around the kitchen until got back.
"Poe!" Fin walked out of the bedroom that him and Poe shared. Poe ran to his brother and hugged him.
"I missed you." Poe said when they had finished their long embrace.
"I was only gone four days."
"Well that's a long time."
"It is for you silly."
Fin was a playful kind brother while sandy was quite bossy. The girl went to her room  and started to read a book. Although they were isolated, they still had to learn like all other children and were homeschooled by their mom. After dinner, the children went to their rooms. Poe lay in his bed across from fin.
"Fin?" He said.
"Yeah."
"I found the old rebel base today."
"Are you lying?"
"No, it's just over that really steep hill."
"Does Sandy or Mom know?"
"Sandy followed me all the way over there. She's such jerk. Mom doesn't know. I'm not gonna tell her."
"Alright I won't either."
"Will you go there with me tomorrow?" Poe asked his brother.
Fin turned over to look his brother in the eyes. A playful smile spread across his face. "Sure. I'll go, as long as we don't bring Sandy."
"I wasn't planning on it!"
Poe closed his eyes and quickly drifted of to sleep. He dreamed of flying a fighter into battle.
