The trip was anything but smooth. The track was off road which meant multiple bumps and dips. You found yourself bouncing about while trying to ensure the safety of the ammo and other supplies. That was the job of the newbie. You were exited to say the least, it was your first mission with the special force blood moon the replacement to the S.T.A.R.S force.
After almost letting one of the cases slip you quickly glanced at the driver. Giving them a quick smile and a nervous chuckle. Kurt returned the smile. He was the reason you were here now. You had always looked up to your cousin and after joining the force he quickly took you under his wing. Teaching you everything he knew and putting in a good word every now and then.
"Agent (Last name)," An authoritative voice spoke drawing your attention to the larger man sat in front of you. "According my calculations we should be arriving at our destination shortly can you please distribute the supplies?"
"Yes sir!" You responded immediately doing as you were told. After dividing everything up equally you handed the first set to the man in front also know as Rainier Cross though you were told to either call him sir or captain. The next set went to a younger looking man you sat next to. You had only just met him today but you could already tell that Jérémie Martel serial flirt. The third set was given to Darleen Whittle. She never said much during the trip but would occasionally give you a quick but friendly smile. She was pretty to say the least, her red hair dividing practically illuminated by the moonlight. The final set went to you.
More bumps along the road made it practically impossible to do up you bullet proof vest. "Here (Name), let me help you," Jérémie smirked. But before you could say anything his hands were already wrapped around your waist.
"Oi Jere! Keep your hands off my cousin," Kurt interjected.
Jérémie put his hands up in defense. "Hey I was just making sure that she was safe." He plead.
A small chuckle escaped Rainiers lips. "(Name) may not know you but we certainly do," he joked. Jérémie pouted slightly and finished helping you with your vest.
The jeep came to a sudden halt. "You have reached your destination. Spooky old abandoned village," Kurt announced. The four of you piled out of the back and onto the wet ground. The rain was coming down a lot harder now than it was earlier which only added to the atmosphere.
Rainier went up to Kurt and gave him his instructions before returning to your small group. "Now listen up. This village has been abandoned for the past for months, it's our mission today to search the area and see if we can find any survivors or even better find out what the hell went on here," He explained. All three of you gave a 'yes sir' in response. After a little more background info your team entered the village.
Equipping your gun both you and Jérémie headed left while Darleen and Rainier headed right. It was quiet, something which you expected from an abandoned village. The rain was making the ground incredibly muddy and it began to become difficult to walk. After a brief discussion you came to the conclusion that you weren't going to find anything outside and there fore headed into the first building you came across. The first room was empty of human life, though every day objects were sprawled across the floor like someone was in a rush leaving. "You check upstairs and I'll continue looking down here," Jérémie suggested. You nodded giving him a quick smile. He returned with a wink.
Slowly you headed upstairs, checking every room you came across. Nothing. The same result for Jérémie and several other houses. It was about your forth house when you began to feel a little uneasy like something wasn't right. After walking through the door you located the stairs and proceeded up. The first door you came across was on your left which of course you opened, however, you immediately regretted it afterwards. A foul stench filled you nostrils causing you to gag a little but it wasn't until you examined the room when your stomach truly began to flip. The room belonged to a young child, pretty pink and flowery wallpaper, dolls and teddies spread across the floor. Your eyes soon moved to the bed encounter the decaying corpse of a little girl, no older than 6. It was at this point when you lost control over your stomach vomiting right there and then. It wasn't the first time you had seen a dead body, however it was the first time it belonged to a child.
A hand began to rub your back and you were greeted with the familiar smile of Jérémie."You ok?" He asked. After a few seconds you managed to nod straightening yourself out.
You didn't want to look throughout the rest of the house but you knew you had to. Jérémie had offered to do it instead but you insisted on doing it yourself. Thankfully you found nothing. Eventually the two of you made your way to the next house where, much to Jérémies dismay, you searched upstairs. The first two room had nothing in it so you moved to the third, something in the back of your mind told you to open the door slowly. Which you did.
The moonlight flooded in through the window creating the perfect silhouette of a man. Keeping in mind what Rainier had said 'treat anyone as a threat'. Cautiously you rose your gun and aimed at the figure. "Don't move," you commanded trying to hide the nerviouseness in your voice. "Now slowly raise your hands and turn around."
The figure did as you commanded. Now that it was facing you it's features became more visible. His blonde hair was slicked back, he wore a dark leather trench coat with a pair of sunglasses. A smirk suddenly appeared upon his lips, something which went unnoticed by you until it was too late.
With in human speed the man charged at you, pinning you to the wall by your right hand. In your shock you let out a little scream and dropped your gun. His face edged closer to yours and you could feel his breath on your face. The sound of footsteps became louder as Jérémie burst through the door. He quickly aimed at the figure pinning you to the wall but before he could fire the figure swopped down, grabbing your gun and shot him.
You managed to get free from the mans grip and ran to kneel down by his body. The bullet had hit him directly through the brain. It killed him instantly not even giving him time to breath a final breath. Tears started to form in your eyes, it was your fault he was dead he came to save you.
Suddenly you felt something cold press against the back of your head. "Get up," a cold voice spoke. You did as you were told and slowly got to your feet, your heart was beating rapidly and the man seemed to know this. You turned and found yourself face to face with the barrel of a gun. You thought you were going to die. Taking a deep breath you closed your eyes waiting for the final moments of life. However, this never came.
As if controlled by someone else, you eyes fluttered open. Instead of shooting you the man was offering the gun to you. Steadying your breath you took the gun in your shaky hands. "Now I suggest you run before I change my mind," he advised.
Your legs seemed to understand this and took off before your mind could even think straight. The rain hadn't lightened up and the ground had become increasingly slippery but you paid no attention to it, you were too intent of finding the rest of your team.
Checking house after house you had begun to lose hope. You began screaming for them, for anyone, to find and help you. Nothing. You were alone and your heart was pounding. While running to one of the houses you stepped on a particularly wet patch of earth which caused you to slip up.
After falling you spent a few seconds on the ground trying to regather your senses. You looked down at your hands, they were shaking. A pair of black boots came into vision. "You make it too easy to find you," the familiar voice spoke. Knowing who it belonged to you quickly got to your feet and ran.
While running you came to a realization. This creep was playing with you, he had numerous chances to kill you yet he didn't. Maybe he wouldn't. Something else was going on here and you needed to find out. The house you were currently in was probably in the worst condition. After shutting the door behind you, you began to look round the room. It was empty. Like all the others. Your eyes were drawn to the family photos hung on the walls. Four children all boys. What could have happened to them?
The door which you had entered from began to creak open. You held up your gun and pointed it at whoever would enter. A few minuets passed and no one entered. You had begun to think that no one will, that you were just paranoid. Or so you thought.
An arm wrapped around your waist and a hand place over your mouth."I certainly had fun playing our little game but my mission takes priority over everything," And with those final word reacing your ears you blacked out. However, you knew that this wasn't the end.
