Thomas |Friday, 12:00 pm (7 hours until the mission)

I closed the door to our room and walked along side Gwen. She wore black leggings and white crop top with black lines. I wore a Navy shirt with sleeves and black pants. Her hair was loose and bouncing with each step she took. She began matching my pace and was playing with her hair.

I touched my bangs, unconsciously.

"Are you getting a haircut?" She asked while we waited for the elevator.

"For the mission, maybe. Should I?" I ask her.

She pouts her mouth, as if she's thinking about it. "I don't know. I like your hair like that. Not too long and not too short."

The elevator dings and we get inside.

"You like only my hair?" I say while pinning her to the elevator veranda.

"You don't waste any time, do you? Let's refrain from doing this on the elevator for a second time, dear." She says, and I look back.

An old lady dressed in pink stood at the opened elevator.

I clear my throat and back away, "She had trash in her hair." I lie.

"You don't have to make excuses, boy." She sighs. "Adolescence is the best peek of life. If you see your prey, go at it." she laughs.

I bite back a laugh, and Gwen punches my stomach with her elbow. The granny giggles.

"I think is better to take it slow." Gwen says.

The granny moves her head in disagreement "Girl, if you take it slow, you will end up like me in no time!"

Gwen blushes and I smile.

I kiss Gwen on the cheek "Thanks for the advice, granny, but I made it a goal to not do anything that will upset her. If I have to wait, I'll wait for her."

"Aw, the best of luck to your blooming love." She says as we get out of the elevator.

We wave her goodbye.

"She looks just like my grandmother, Angie." Gwen says.

"We will see her soon. And then maybe, you can introduce me properly."

"Right, goof."

-

"Wait here, Master Thomas. Your father will come by shortly."

Robert closed both doors and left Gwen and me in my father's office. Robert looked like he was bothered by something. I will have to come out later and ask him whats up with him.

I just remembered this is the first time that Gwen is going to meet my father.

I sit down on the black couch while Gwen explores the frames hanging on the walls.

"This is the first time you are meeting my father, right?" I ask her.

She stops by one of the book shelves, balancing her weight on her right leg "Yes. It is the first time I will see him."

I turn towards her "Are you nervous?"

"I am."

"You don't have to be." I assure her.

"How will you explain the reason you rejected the other candidates?"

"Isnt it obvious? You're my girlfriend."

Gwen | 12:16 pm

I never thought I would hear that word coming out of his mouth.

Thomas looked at me through his Jade like eyes, that make me feel as if my skin has been cleared off, and only my soul remained.

He is really serious about us going out.

His bangs made him look more handsome than he already is.

I smile. "Yes, I am your girlfriend. I was just making sure you knew that."

He scoffs and looks away."Of course I do. You offend me."

I walk towards him and swing myself down on the couch beside him.

"Hey, hey, don't pout." I say and pinch his cheeks, making his mouth in a smile.

Thomas looks away. "I'm not puoting." he manages.

"You are." My hands keep playing with his cheeks. I can do this forever. So cute when he's mad.

He grabs my hands and places them on his chest. His face was red from my recent work.

"Take me seriously here, G." He says, piercing me with his eyes.

"Who said I'm not?" I say.

The doors open. A man who looks just like an older version of Thomas comes in. I sit up straight as he takes his seat behind his big desk.

"Welcome to my office. I take it that you are Gwendolyn Hamilton." His voice was deep, making each of the hairs in my neck stand.

"Yes! I mean, I am. People call me Gwen." I stutter. I need to calm down, other wise I will make a fool of myself.

As if sensing my struggle, Thomas closes his hand in mine.

"Nice to finally meet the renegade that left the training stage." He says. His pupils were big and demanding.

"It was my mistake, father. I made her leave. I mentioned it to you before at the last meeting."

"You did, briefly." He opens a notepad that was placed on his desk, "If you made her leave, then why did you reject the other candidates?"

"Gwen is perfect for this job. I don't consider that she can be replaced by anyone else. Most importantly, she is my girlfriend."

He stops looking at the notepad.

TOO DIRECT, THOMAS.

"She is your what?" He asked again, his tone sounding as if he were given a chance to retract himself.

"My girlfriend."

--

The atmosphere started to get tense once Thomas revealed our relationship.

His father laid back on his big chair, staring at us intently.

If I knew this was going to happen, I would have pretended we weren't dating.

"Mr. Hood, I know that I left a bad impression by running away and risking the mission, but I can assure you I am compromised in completing it." I say. Thomas looks at me apologetically.

"Mrs. Hamilton. Tonight Christopher Boulevard and his son will be attending to the ball. You will have to prove to me that you really live by the words you say. If there is any mistake, you can be in danger. There will be people on the sides to help complete the mission, but if you are unsure of your abilities, please back away now."

"I have trained for a short time, but I am confident."

Mr. Hood stands up from his chair "Prove it to me that you are." He says. The office doors begin to open, "Prove to me that you are worthy of my son and worthy of your place in this industry. Whether you fail or not, depends on you. If you do fail my expectations, my son..."

The door opens, and Robert waved his elbow for someone to come in. His eyes were empty, as he looked down at the carpet. I feel that in these split seconds I will find the reason for his odd attitude. A beautiful young woman in a black lace dress with blonde hair and blues eyes appeared before us.

"Will get married to Veronica Adamovich." he finishes.
