Act 22: Recapitulation Of Strategies

I opened the glass door that lead to the balcony of my room. The full moon shined up in the clear night sky.

It is the perfect moon for hunting.

Overseeing the hotel entrance, people made their way into the reception lot as they stepped out
of their vehicles.

From here, I could see their elegant attires gleaming with the light of the moon.

Robert appeared by my side, dressed elegantly with a black tuxedo and a white head mask.

"Let us go, Master. We must report and rehearse the strategy before the beginning of the masquerade ball."

The elevator switfly deposited us down at headquarters.

It is almost seven. I will get to see Gwen.

My head is full of tension.

"Christopher Boulevard has already arrived. We will enter the ballroom and greet all of our guests. Then we start our strategy." Robert informs while matching my pace. My eyes were covered by a black mask.

I tug on my collar, "Can't help but admit, Robert, I am nervous."

"This evening will have a positive outcome, master. I am quite sure of it."

The hall was full of dressed in black agents. I recognized most of them from last years training. Their ears were strapped with earphones.

I waved at them and they did the same.

Kahti stood patiently in the office, waiting for our arrival. She was also dressed in agent attire, but her golden curls were straightened into a ponytail. Her face was rounder than usual.

"Good evening, Master Thomas. You look splendid tonight." She said.

"Thank you. The same to you. It is weird seeing you with a pony tail, Kat." I say, familiarly.

"Well, it is a special occasion for me, too." She said, recalling that she loves to wear those kinds of clothes too.

The meeting office had a large rectangular black table, with two long rows at each side, but it only sufficed for the seven people needed. Two big chairs on the opposite sides, and I sat on one of them. Kahti and Robert sat at my sides.

"Hey, Kat. Where is Gwen?"

She moves her right hand swiftly "She is already down on the adjacent entrance to the ballroom. I already discussed the details of our strategy."

"Is she alright?" I asked, worriedly. "She must be nervous with all of this."

She smiles warmly, "Of course, master. She will be alright. Besides, she will get to see you soon."

"I assure you that will make master Gwen calm down." Robert speaks out. "She is quite the entertaining young lady. We had about some time together during training, and she is very disciplined."

I smile to myself. Indeed, Gwen is my treasure. How could I have been so blind back in our High school times.

She must be really bothered by the presence of Veronica.

I turn towards Kahti. "Did you know about Veronica?" I risked, hoping the people that needed to arrive took longer.

She denied, "I was not aware. I found out only minutes before."

"I thought she would stay in Russia for good. She caused trouble enough when we were younger, why bring her back now of all times?" I complain. Kahti visited our manor occasionally, and Veronica lived on the next door manor, so we often played. Veronica was always causing problems.
