Ch 2.1 Dressing Up For The Journey

The four now has nestled up around the trees just nearby the forest, taking a rest they deserved. Vale was keeping guard, wide awake as he stared at the three who were sound asleep the rest of the night. Asuka and Ayumu were sleeping soundly together as they laid their backs to the tree. Vesper was a bit unsettled as he was in a daze, staring at the night sky.

Vale walked closer to the sleeping girls as he sat on the ground right in front of Asuka. "I'll protect you this time.. Inoha.." He mutters under his breath as he smoothed her hair out, looking at her dazed as he meets sorrow.

Though somehow, Vesper's ears twitched as he managed to hear Vale whisper 'Inoha' softly. He quickly shifted his attention towards Vale as he watched him.

"Mama.. Where are you going.. Mama?" Asuka uttered in her sleep as a tear started to drop from her left eye.

The sun rose as the sky was colored in orange, the four prepared themselves, still a bit sleepy. Asuka stretched her arms wide as she spoke, "Hey, Vale, where are we headed first anyway?"

A town would be nice, we'll be needing some items if we're to start this journey. Can you guys hide your forms?" Vale replied, "I need to find my other sword too.." He muttered under his breath.

"Hmm? Well, I guess the Elder taught us that." Asuka follows, her two tails shrinking as it disappeared from sight, along with her fox-like ears that slowly formed to strands of hair as they flowed down, her locks then started changing in color as the silver hair turned yellow. The red markings on her face also disappeared as they left a sight of her cheek's smooth surface

"Like this?" She asked, the two other also changing forms as Ayumu's purple hair turned black, and Vesper's became brown, both their tails hidden and losing features that made them different from humans.

"It's fine, your clothes are the problem though." Vale commented, "It's all rugged and bloody, you'd all attract too much attention."

"You're looking quite suspicious too, you know? Pitiful even." Ayumu spoke, blankly gazing at Vale.

"Appearance changes are easy, clothes on the other hand." Vesper muttered.

"Well, this is a problem." Vale followed, "So what do we do now?"

"So we're at a stand still, I was so hyped to start too." Asuka said as she was suddenly down.

-30 minutes later-

"Everybody geared yet?" Vale asked, wearing new clothes as a bunch of unconscious bodies were lying in a pile behind them with their clothes removed. Vale snitched a black leather garb accompanied by a scarf of the same color. His pants were colored white as they were a loose fit. He also nabbed a pair of brown boots while managing to get a belt to hang his sheathe on.

"Well, Asuka still hasn't found one." Vesper chuckled, staring at Asuka who was looking through the pile of clothes they got. He chose for himself a set of lightweight armor to cover his brown shirt,  and brown pants with a pair of black shoes.

"I can't find anything that fits me." Asuka said, still looking through the pile of clothes.

"I kinda feel sad for this guys though, someone hand me the rejected clothes," Ayumu commented as she stared at the unconscious bodies, poking them with a stick from time to time. She wore a blue robe that covered her whole body, and also a brown garb and black pants underneathe.

"Hmm.. Fox princess," Vale called, approaching Asuka as he scratched his head, "Just choose something you really like."

"Eh? Then it's this one." Asuka picked up her chosen clothes, a white long sleeved shirt that had a violet strap by the waist that covers the torso area, and a long blue skirt. "Actually, it's a perfect fit, except the skirt and the sleeves are too long."

"Is that so? Lift one of them up first then, make sure there aren't any folds." He informed.

"Like this?" Asuka lifted the shirt up first, a bit confused on why.

"Yeah. Just like that." He said, grabbing his sword by the hilt, flashing a sweep as he cuts through the sleeves.

"W-wait? What?" Asuka comments, surprised as the excess sleeves fell on the ground, "Wait, be right back." she immediately ran behind a tree and reappeared a few seconds later wearing the newly cut shirt and the long blue skirt, it's sleeves reaching almost her elbows as they were still symmetrical. "Woah, that's amazing, Vale!" She smiled as she twirled around. "Mind fixing the skirt next? Maybe I shouldn't have worn it immediately."

"Just keep twirling." He commented, flashing his sword one more time as the excess cloth slowly fell down, the long skirt that reached Asuka's feet now reached her knees.

"Look, it's shorter! I can move easily now." Asuka hummed, a bright smile on her face as she kept tiwrling, "Oh, I'm getting dizzy." She adds, finally stopping. Though with a misstep, she almost fell down on her back as Vale catched her.

"Are you alright, fox princess?" Vale asked, helping her stand up as he pushed her back slightly, not even minding how close their face was.

"Thanks... Vale." She smiled once more.

"Like the view, Vesper?" Ayumu chuckles as the two watch from behind the scenes.

"Hm? What?" Vesper replies, confused on why would she ask that.

"Nothing," She hummed, a bittersweet smile appearing on her face. "Looks like she found her knight in black clothing."
