XVIII. What the hell is happening?

I was surprised to see Asiana barge in my office. Kahit nakasuot siya ng sunglasses alam kong napatda siya sa nadatnan. Kung bakit naman kasi ang ganung eksena pa ang nakita niya. I don’t want to hurt her pero may mga bagay na hindi ko hawak sa aking mga kamay tulad ng eksenang nadatnan niya kanina. Agad akong tumayo at inalis si Evelyn sa aking mga hita at lumakad ako palapit sa kanya.

Nang magkaharap na kami ay gusto ko siyang yakapin ng mahigpit pero hindi ko pwedeng gawin dahil nandun si Evelyn. I really missed my wife and she is still as beautiful as I last saw her.

“What are you doing here?” I asked her trying my very best to sound cold. Though I hate to do it I knew I must at that moment.

“I just came here to personally give you this.” She said and handed me an envelope.

Kunot-noo ko itong inabot sa kanya habang titig na titig ako sa kanya. I missed seeing her beautiful face sayang nga lang at natatakpan ito ng malaking itim na sunglasses. I can’t read her expression and it frustrates me. Pero mas mabuti na rin siguro iyon because I don’t want to see how badly hurt she is and the hatred she has for me right now.

“What’s this?” I asked when I got the envelope.

She bit her lip and I know she was close to crying. “Annulment paper natin.” Mahina niyang wika pero abot sa aking pandinig. Napatda ako sa aking narinig.

This can’t be happening I told myself. I was just looking at her trying to digest what she was telling me.

 “I already signed it kaya ikaw na ang bahalang umasikaso niyan alam kong mas mapapadali iyang maayos with all your connections. I will be leaving to Florida tonight and I’ll be staying there for good. I just came here to say goodbye.” She said and before I can utter any words ay tumalikod na siya at nagmamadaling umalis.

I was left stunned. Hindi ako nakagalaw sa aking kinatatayuan. Natanong ko ang sarili ko if it’s worth it? Maaayos ko nga ang mga problema ko sa negosyo but I have hurt my wife in the process. It’s not only hurting her but losing her in the end. I can’t lose her. She is everything to me at sa dinami na ng pinagdaanan namin hindi pwedeng dito na lang kami matapos. I’ll be dead if she will walk out of my life for good. I have to gain her back.

With that thought I hurriedly run out to her pero nakasakay na siya sa elevator. Dali-dali akong nagtungo sa private elevator na ako lang at mga malalapit na tao sa akin ang gumagamit. PasaIamat na lang ako at hindi niya ito naisipang gamitan. I heard Evelyn’s calling me pero hindi ko siya pinakinggan. I need to run for Asiana. I can’t let her go.

Pagbukas ng elevator na gamit ko ay siya namang paglabas niya sa katapat na elevator. We stare at each other. I didn’t know what to say or where to start. I am oblivious to what’s happening around me. Si Asiana lang ang nakikita ko ng mga oras na iyon until I heard someone calls my name.

“Argon, darling.” Evelyn said in a low voice but enough to be heard. I glance at her while Asiana walk away.

“Asiana.” I called her in a not so loud voice.

She stopped a while before she continued to walk. I ran after her and hugged her from behind. She stiffened from my hug but I don’t care. My thought was on how good it felt to have here in my arms. But it was my turn to stiff when I heard her voice in a very cold tone that I haven’t hear from her before.
