I opened my eyes with a smile and breathed in the scents of Joel and coffee. What a great way to wake up in the morning! I was sitting up and stretching when there was a light knock and Joel walked in. All he had on was shorts, muscle and a cocky grin.
I lowered my arms and said, "Yum."
He smiled bigger and walked to me. He climbed up into bed and lay beside me but on top of the covers. I snuggled back down and curled into him. He kissed my forehead and said, "You sleep good?"
I smiled and said, "I did. You?"
He snorted and said, "I had to turn the TV on and watch the weather channel for about thirty minutes before I could go to sleep."
I laughed up at him and said, "Poor baby. I'm sorry."
He said, "No you're not, but I forgive you." He brought his lips down to mine.
At the knock on the door we looked over and his mom stepped in. She said, "Good morning!" She was already dressed and looked flawless. She said, "Dad and I are leaving in about thirty. Are you guys riding with us or you driving?"
Joel said, "I think we'll drive because we're supposed to be at Shay and Stella's around noon."
She said, "Ok that sounds good but you guys need to get up and get movin." She closed the door back when she left.
I let out a breath and said, "Whew... I keep waiting for her to rip my hair out now." Joel snorted then fell over on his back and all out laughed. I sat up and leaned over his chest and said, "That's not funny!"
He put his arms around me and said, "Oh yeah it is." He shifted to kiss me then said, "Do you want your whole suit case or just some clothes?"
I said, "Just some clothes is fine. I'm staying at Toni's tonight so...."
He said, "We are. I need to do some laundry this afternoon."
I laughed and said, "I think I do too but my clothes are strolled all over the place."
He said, "Oh... Morgan put the clothes you left there in the back of your car last night."
I said, "Ok cool. Now I only have clothes here and... at Anita's. But... I still have her dress so... we'll call it an even trade."
He grinned and said, "Sweet. I like that dress on you." He gave me a kiss and then said, "Ok, why don't you go ahead and get in the shower. I'll go get your clothes and bring them to you."
I brought him back to me for another kiss and said, "Ok." When he left I sighed contentedly and got up to get in the shower.
After a few minutes he came into the bathroom and put my clothes on the counter. When he just leaned against the wall to watch me I said, "Hello... parents."
He stood and pulled his shorts off and said, "Gone." Needless to say the shower lasted a little longer than planned.
We finally got on the road around 0600. After stopping for gas we were on our way. It took roughly an hour and a half to get there. His grandparents lived right over the Alabama line in a little town called Cave Spring, GA.
When we pulled up, his grandfather walked out onto the porch. My mouth fell open and I said, "Is all this land theirs?"
Joel grinned and said, "Yeah. They have cows and sheep and chickens in the back. They used to have hogs until one of em got loose and ate up my Gran's vegetable garden."
