You were, quite frankly, exhausted. It was a normal day at work, therefore it was tiring and draining, and you could stop thinking about how much your feet hurt. On the walk home, you stopped at a bench on the street corner, sitting down and leaning back for a moment. Due to the fact you lived alone, you were perfectly fine to take on extra shifts as you had no one waiting at home, and today was one of those days you worked extra hours.Just as you were about to head off again, that when you heard it.
The softest wail. A baby's wail.
You immediately tensed, looking around you, for the source of the noise, the only possible place being by the industrial bins in the small alleyway.
Not too keen on entering but not having the heart to ignore the little cries, you tentatively edged forward and peered behind the bins, letting out a small gasp.A small child was curled up against the wall, softly crying.
Your heart gave out as you quickly scooped up the child by placing your hands under its armpits and picking it up, holding it out in front of you to get a better look. You let out another gasp.
Pointed ears covered in black fur protruded from amidst his thick black tufts of hair. A long black furry tail hung from behind, hanging low between his legs as he cowered in fear. His tiny hands were curled up into fists as he looked up at you with big brown eyes, confused and pleading.
You internally cooed at how adorable he was, before rapidly glancing at your surroundings and relaxing when you realised no one was around.
Hybrids were considered more like collectable items rather than people, causing them all to go into hiding or disguise themselves, for fear of being kidnapped and sold as a slave to some bidder with too much money on their hands - the rarer the breed, the higher the price.
You looked back at the little pup in your hands; he couldn't have been older than 2, you thought, looking him up and down in his adorable little pale blue onesie, his tiny feet wiggling back and forth as he began to get restless.
You couldn't leave him here.
Quickly bringing the baby hybrid to your chest and shifting him comfortably, you brought up the hood to sit on his head, tucking his little ears inside. You unraveled your scarf from your neck and wrapped it around the boy so his tail was covered. All the while, the boy looked up at you quietly, his big chocolate eyes blinking cutely.
Praying he wouldn't cry along the way, you quickly scurried home. There was no way you could take him to the police station, for the very same reason that they'd just take the boy and give him to someone willing to pay.
At last, you were home, the little boy bouncing up and down in your arms, causing you to him as you set him down, and he immediately, with a little wobble, stood up on his feet and began pacing around, this way and that.
It was then that you caught the glint of something around the pup's neck, and you crouched down and gently held the boy, catching him as he scurried passed.
"What's this?" You hummed, as the hybrid also looked down. It was a little collar, a very thin black strap with a gold pendant. On it was a simple, engraved letter.
J
"J?" You mused, as the boy took off again with a giggle.
"Jin?"
He didn't even stop."Jongup?"
No acknowledgement."Jaehoon?"
The little hybrid plonked down with his back facing you."Jimin?"
He didn't bother turning around."Junghyun?"
At the sound of this, the pup's ears perked up, standing straight as he rolled around, sprung up and waddled over quickly towards you with a little giggle.
