The first few classes are a blur of giggles and gossip.
We sit together in
every
class.
Some teachers have tried to seperate us,
but we still find a way to talk to eachother
even if its yellng across the room.
They all eventually let us sit together again.
We talk about everyone.
Who's gained weight,
who's lost weight,
who's pretty,
who's ugly,
who's fat.
At lunch we go outside.
Sitting in a room full of people
stuffing their faces with fattening calorie packed food is
what i wish i could do
DISGUSTING.
We sit in this overgrown tree at the back of the school
no one bothers us.
We pull out our journals and compare
everything.
Yesterday, Emma ate
565 calories
I ate
215 calories.
She weighed in at 99.4 pounds this morning.
I feel my cheeks burn when I tell her I weigh 102.3 pounds.
She tells me I only gained because of water weight.
She's lying.
She's lost 4.1 pounds this week.
I've lost 2.7 pounds.
I'm falling behind.
If I cant lose enough I wont be good enough for Emma.
I decide then, that I'm going to work way harder.
Who needs food anyway?
I do.
not me.
We spend the rest of lunch looking at thinspos.
After lunch is gym.
Our favorite class.
It's a free class,
so we go on the treadmills.
She runs faster than me,
and I struggle to keep up.
She tells me that it doesn't matter how fast you run,
its about how many calories you burn.
I run an extra 6 minutes after she's done,
We both burn 650 calories.
We spend our last class making plans for the weekend.
She doesn't like to spend any time at home
her parent are suspicious.
They force her to eat.
They threatened to send her to treatment,
but she ran away.
She only came back when they told her
she didn't need to go to treatment if she tried to get better.
So she came back
and she fakes it.
Fake it till you make it,
except shes gotten worse.
"Can I sleep over?"
She always sleeps over.
I nod
"Of course."
I could never say no to Emma.
