I saw you again today,
We walked by each other like we've never even met
Like we're just strangers passing by
Like we didn't spend years together,
Like we just existed in some other life
And in this one, we never happened
I turned around to your direction as I reached the headlights
I wished that you'd turn around too, maybe then I would smile and you would smile back
Say " hey how have you been? " and we would start over
but you didn't look back, and I didn't get a chance to smile.
I wanted to see your eyes, I wanted you to talk, I wanted to be near you again
But I guess life doesn't work that way,
no, it just arranges passing encounters with strangers who were once your everything.
