Chapter 4// Murphy's Law

"Clarke are you sure about this?" I asked her as we walked to the drop ship. The death of Wells hit her a lot harder than it hit me. On top of the fact that she discovered her mom was the one who floated her father. "I want her to feel the same pain I felt when my father died." She said walking to Monty.

He took her band off and managed to keep it alive. "Rest in Peace Clarke Griffin" I smirked at Clarke, she glared at me playfully. "I did it! Its still operational." Monty praised with a bright smile. Clarke gave him a nod before walkinh back to Finn. I sat on my knee's beside Monty, quietly watching him work. His eyebrows furrowed as he tangled wire and pressed bottoms. "Can you do it? Can you talk to the Ark?" I over to him, his head raised only slightly.

"Its going to be a lot of work but if I can patch into the drop ships main frame, we'll be talking to the Ark by nightfall" He smiles hopefully. I nod smiling before walking out of the ship.

I see Murphy and another boy fighting. Running to them, I pushed myself in between, "Hey, Stop it! Both of you!" I shout over them with my hands on their chests. "I'm gonna kill you!" Connor yells as he pushes at me. "You said you wanted a water break, back to work!" Murphy counters with a smirk as he throws his hands up.

"Enough!" I shout just as Connor's fist colides with my cheek bone. I stumble back into Murphy as I face him. The slowly growing crowd grew quiet as they watched the fight unfold. "I'm sorry Vienna, but get out of the way before I hit you again." He spoke looking over me at Murphy. I pushed myself off of Murphy, taking a quick step forward before swinging. Hitting him in the jaw, I go to hit him again but someone grabs me. "Stop Foster, stop! Calm down" Bellamy said holding my back against his chest. "Let go Bellamy" I snapped at him. "I'm doing this for him" Bellamy smirked and I rolled my eyes pulling away, "Dick" I glare at Connor before walking back to my tent.

I sat in my usual tree as Octavia and Jasper walked to me. "Hey goggle boy" I smile down at him. "Whatcha doing V?" He laughs. "V?" I tilt my head to the side. "Yeah, that's my nickname for you" He smiles brightly. "Okay then" I shrug it off with a hushed laugh.

Octavia drags him away. I watched everyone run around. They worked on building the fence while others gathered food and other things. Almost everyone was working to some extent. I see Octavia and Jasper outside the fence, looked like she finally got him out of his safety zone. They both turn, running back into camp and toward Bellamy's tent. Clarke follows in a small while later.

My curiosity rises as I climb down the tree and make my way toward the tent. "Hey, I'm sorry Vienna" Connor spoke as he held me arm. "I'll forgive you, but try anything like that again and you won't be walking" I snap pulling away and continuing my journey to the tent.

"It means the grounders didn't kill Wells." Clarke paused as I walked in. "Then who did?" I asked slowly shutting the flap. "It was one of us" She looked over me. My eyes wandered to the knife in Clarke's hand. "So, there's a murderer in the camp?" Jasper asked in a shaky voice.

"There's more than one murder in this camp" Bellamy spoke putting his hands on his hips, his eyes running over mine for a slipt second. I felt my heart skip a beat, but I kept my composer. "We need to keep this quiet." He said turning around. Clarke looked at the blade in her hand for a moment before walking toward the exit. Bellamy stepped in front of her, blocking her path.

"Out of my way Bellamy" She spoke in a firm voice. "Be smart about this, look at what we've achieved. The walls, the patrol. Like it or not, thinking the grounders killed Wells is good for us." Bellamy explained. "Oh good for you you mean! What? Keep people afraid and they'll work for you?" She snapped. "Yeah that's it. Its good for all of us. The fear is building that wall." He managed to stay calm. "Bellamy, There is one of us murdering people. This isn't like on the Ark, every life is valuable" I tell him.
