I HAVE RETURNED
yeah im returning with another bad instalment into this series
sorry
k bye

Dan's P.O.V.

The ringing sound resonates in the room until Phil answers, I think. And I think, although I can't know, that I heard Phil leave. How long he was gone is impossible to know because I decided the noises were nothing, and fell back to sleep.

But I woke up when he returned, whenever that was, because he slammed the door. He was sobbing, and my confusion as to why he was, didn't help my trying to help him.

"I have to get out of here!" He cried.

"What's wrong?"

"I should've stayed with her! God, how many times can I fuck up my life?!" he practically yelled. I didn't even have time to wonder what happened before he screamed, "I just have to go! I need to get out of here, to her!"

"Where do you need to go?" I asked, trying to understand.

He sat down and put his head between his legs, still sobbing. "Just come with me and we can leave. Right now."

"Right now? But to where?"

Phil stands, grabbing my hand in the process. He starts pulling me out of my room, down the hall, and outside into the dark moonlit night. I felt calmer because Phil seemed to have slowed down, but then he sped back up again. He was walking fast, practically charging down the street. It felt like we were racing through the night, running away from something. Because of how dark it is, I wondered what kind of personal hell it would be if there weren't any street lights.

Phil was still pulling me along, tugging on the sleeve of my shirt. It was still unsettling, with the darkness seemingly moving around us, boxing us in, as if we could drown in the heavy feeling. And what's in the darkness, I wouldn't know. That's the scariest part. You know what you see, but what about everything that's hidden by the unlit areas?

"Dan?" Phil says as he stops abruptly. He turned to look me in the eyes. I shivered under his cold stare and the equally cold wind circling in the air. But his coldness soon looked worried, scared, and yet, there was hope. Hope for what, I don't know, but at least I didn't just see one, unhappy feeling.

"Yeah?" I couldn't tear my eyes away from his, like they were a safety blanket from the night.

"Are you afraid?" He whispered. I saw his breath appear and then disappear  into the wind. I nod slowly, knowing I wasn't only feeling scared. "It's okay," Phil says, laughing a little, "I am too. You'll probably see why when we get to our grand destination." His eyes twinkle at the mention of the word grand; he must be just itching to get to wherever we're going.

But I don't really trust that "twinkle" in his eyes. He was crying earlier, sobbing more than just crying. Then he needed me to go with him somewhere, so he could get to her. Whatever happened must of really messed him up, if he can change so quickly. Phil still hasn't told me who that person is, and even during this walk, my curiosity hasn't disappeared.

We start walking again. Phil let go of my shirt and is instead holding my hand, which is slightly comforting.

"We're almost there," He says, almost giddy with excitement. Few buildings are in sight; a small store, and rest stop, and two or three fast food restaurants. He must be referring to one of these places right? But we keep walking, past the store, and the rest stop, and the fast food restaurants. The only other significant building in view is a hospital.

A hospital. Hospitals have such bad connotations with them. Could this be where Phil is taking me? Please don't be the hospital, I thought as we pass every other establishment, still on our way to the hospital.

Phil seems to have a sudden change of heart as his hand starts to get sweaty and the distance between us and the hospital becomes smaller and smaller. So, during this twenty minute walk, I finally come to terms with the fact that we must be traveling to this hospital.

And then I get scared.

And then I feel confused.

And then I hope Phil is okay as we walk through the doors of the hospital. The receptionist looks up at us and smiles.

"What can I do for you?" She asks.

"Um, I'm, uh, here to see a Mrs. Lester?" Phil says, his voice wavering.

"Are you Philip Lester, her son?" Phil nods.

"I'm glad you came when we called, we know it's a late hour but we thought it was best for you to visit her now. She'll be in room 106, just knock before you enter."

We make our way down the hall and reach the door with the numbers 106 in the middle. Phil stands in front of the door, a shaky hand raised to knock.

As he drops his hand he says, "Do you mind if you stay out here for a second? I need a bit..." His voice trails off as he raises his hand again, actually knocking. Phil takes a step back, as do I.

I hear a faint "Come in," as Phil turns the doorknob and walks in, leaving me outside to wait for him. I stand awkwardly outside the door until Phil says, "Actually, Dan, could you come in?"

And then I walk inside.
