A couple days later, you can go home. You're 13 now. You can take care of yourself. Just to be sure though, Jay was spending the night. "Alright! Let's begin this investigation!" Jay declared. You and Jay looked all around the house for clues about where your parents had gone. "Hey, I found something!" Jay announced. When you saw what Jay was pointing at, your jaw dropped. It was a silver dagger with a note attached. The note said, Dear Trixan, this dagger is yours now. You will need it in the future. Sincerely, Dang it! The name was too blotted to read. "So, that's yours now?" "I guess." "Who's the letter from?" "Doesn't say" You were confused. Your parents never trusted you with weapons. Would they have left this here? Suddenly, you and Jay hear a loud Bang coming from the kitchen. "What on Earth was that?!?" Jay asked. "Let's find out." You say, sounding braver than you feel. They turned the corner, and there it was. A giant Rottweiler. It started growling as soon as it saw us. "Run!" Jay yelled, but I was frozen with fear. It charged at me. I whipped my dagger, and cut it's nose. But that didn't stop it. It just started shrinking, and turned into a tiger! It was just about ready to pounce, when all of a sudden, it turned into a small pile of dust. "Shifters." A man muttered. "You kids alright?" "Wha?" "We're fine" Jay answered. The man looked like he was in his early twenties. He was a sword in one hand. "Dang, that was a big one. You must be a pretty strong imperial for it to scent you." "A what?" Your parents had never told you that before.
