Thank you for reading!  The only actor I want is Chace Crawford because I love him. So everyone else is to your imagination.

"Hello" - When italicized it means that the characters are communicating through sign language.

Please enjoy!

"Stop that clicking right now!"  My mother yelled from downstairs.

The only sound you could here in my room was the sound of a retractable pen clicking over and over again.  Sighing I set down the pen on my desk.  Every month I go through a faze of learning something new and interesting.  This month was Morse Code, which happened to annoy my parents.

I pocket my phone and decide to head down to the kitchen where my family is.

"Sorry. I'm just trying to learn Morse Code."  I tell them, taking a seat next to my dad, who is shoving a forkful of eggs in his mouth.

"I know sweetie but it's still so early in the morning." My mother says while placing a plate of eggs and bacon in front of me.

I start eating the eggs but avoid the bacon that looks too burnt to eat.  Although that is not a problem for my dad.  He starts chewing them down in a hurry like he is at a bacon eating contest.

"What made you want to learn Morse?"  He asks in between bites of his bacon.

"I picked up my pen last night and was fascinated with how the spring worked.  The way it all happens because of tension in the spring that suddenly the clicking made me think of Morse."  I tell him.  The thought of knowing Morse Code seemed pretty legit.  Having your own language to speak in.  Unfortunately I didn't know any one else who knew Morse Code.

"By tonight at dinner time I shall have it mastered." I tell my parents.

Mother looks proud but my father actually puts down his fork and frowns at me.

"I actually want to talk to you about something serious Val."  My father says, pushing his plate aside and folding his arms in front of him on the table.

My mother sets down her own plate of food and joins us.

"You stay inside all day. I don't think that's healthy for a girl your age so starting today I want you to spend a day once a week out of the house."

I immediately freeze.  I rarely leave the house.  I never had any reason to.  My mother was homeschooled and made sure that I was also, even though dad always argued to mother that I need to experience a normal high school life.

"Darling we've talked about this.  We have a smart girl that only wants to learn.  Why does she need to spend time away from learning." My mother states in a tone that says she does not agree with this.

My mother was just like me.  She's where I get my intelligence.  She was homeschooled and learned something new everyday.  It wasn't until she started college did she really interact with people.  People who couldn't believe a young women was as smart as she was.

"She needs to live a little.  She can learn to interact with others.  I remember when you joined college you were socially awkward."  My father tells mother.

That last part was true.  Mother didn't make a lot of friends because people her age weren't smart enough and people her I.Q. level were way older.  The only friend she had was my dad who didn't care about how smart one is.  He actually isn't that smart.  A total goofball which is what attracted my mom in the first place.  Opposite attraction.
