Remember that Chace signs every time he speaks.

You sure you don't mind sitting here with me?” Fritz asks.

I look out at our friends in Damon’s truck spinning in circles in the mud.

yeah I need a break from it.” I tell him.

He nods. Another thing I learned about him is that he has a weak stomach. He was only in the truck for about twenty minutes before he had to get out looking really sick.

Are you sure you should be missing out on your families dinner tonight?”

Yeah. I'd rather be here, genuinely happy then at home pretending that I'm happy to impress my dads co-workers.”

I just nod in understanding. I look back at our friends and smile when I hear all the girls screaming in fright and the boys holler in glee. Yup Ally and I were not the only girls in the group, Which made us both happy.

Because now we had Jordan and Taylor. Jordan was a little cautious about joining us while Taylor just jumped in. Now it was weird not having them when we did hang out. And even though we just met Tuesday both girls added a lot of personality to the group. They also taught me how to march in time for next weeks show.

I felt like you're going to get in trouble when you get home.”

He pushes his lips into a thin line, “I will.”

I was afraid of that. “I'll go inside with you. He might not want to make a big scene with a witness there.” I tell him.

I see him about to object so I clasp his hands together and give a look. He smiles and intertwines our fingers together. I see him lean in a little and I suddenly get nervous.

I'm about to have my first kiss. Fritz closes his eyes and I automatically do the same. His hand comes up and caresses my cheek, slightly pulling me closer.

“NO!” Ally yells across the field.

We break apart, embarrassed that we were caught. In that moment I had forgotten that we weren’t alone.

“Fritz Duncan! Shame on you for almost making a muddy field the place for Val's first kiss!” Ally yelled.

I translated it to Fritz who shook with his silent laughter. “Tell her. 'Thank you for stopping me from doing something foolish.”

I laughed and told Ally. She turned to the people in the truck. I couldn't hear what she said but suddenly they were driving our way. They all got out, careful not to slip in the mud before they reached the little green patch where Fritz and I were.

“We should all do something tonight. After we clean up though.” Chace told us after we all got to our vehicles.
