I don't know what is watching me, but I can feel it. I know something is there, waiting for ,me to be vulnerable. No one believes me, they all think I am paranoid. There has to be something, I can't shake this terrible feeling.
I don't go out anymore, the feeling is too great. I stay holed up in my room with my dog for company. Dogs can see the ghosts, it's like a sixth sense they have.
Sometimes during the night she starts to growl when I can't see anyone or anything there, I'm convinced there is a ghost in my house, she can see it.
This has been going on for a week now. I have not seen my friends in so long, no human interaction.
I wake up suddenly at two a.m. sweating and frantic.
Another nightmare.
I can't fall back to sleep so I decide to get something to eat. My dog follows me. As I enter the kitchen the floorboards creak and I jump. I take a few seconds to calm myself down and continue to the fridge. When I try to open it, the door stays shut. I tug harder but it still won't budge. My dog starts to growl and stare at the refrigerator door. I stop pulling and look down at my hand. Over mine, there is a silhouette of another pushing down on the door.
I scream and try to run but the hand grabs my arm and pulls me back so I land on the floor. As this all is happening I think back to all my nightmares.
The first one was this same scenario, but this time I know it is real. As I hit the floor the hand lets me go and I can feel a cold chill settle in on me, like the window was opened in the dead of winter.
I flipped myself over so I was facing the ceiling and my breath caught in my throat. It was floating over me staring down at me with piercing eyes that seemed to go right through my soul. I couldn't tear my eyes away from it but in the background I heard my dog barking frantically. I broke the stare and looked at my dog. She was barking and trying to get to me but an invisible barrier was keeping her back.
I turned back to the face above me, tears now streaming down my face to find it still staring at me. I yelped and tried to scrabble out from under it, slipping on the wood floors. When I stood up I turned back to it and it was still looking down at the floor.
Suddenly it let out a high pitched scream.
At first I only heard noise but then the words started forming.
"You must get out of here before it gets you. It got me. I didn't have a chance, but you have one, now RUN!" It screamed the last part and vanished into thin air.
The cold chill was still penetrating my skin all the way to my bones. Something else had to be here, watching the whole thing.
I decided to trust my instincts, and the ghost, and ran back to my rock to pack up a few of my belongings.
As I was packing I heard a knocking at my door. I froze. There isn't anyone else in my house besides me and my dog. I started to slowly creep to my window, trying not to make a sound. When I was opening the latch the door swung open with a gust of blistering heat. It knocked me off my feet and then I heard a voice from the door.
"I've come for you, just like the last, this house is cursed, you won't be the last stuck here forever."
I tried to get to my feet but something was holding me down. It started to speak again.
"I will tell you of what happened before you join me for eternity."
The story was horrifying, I couldn't believe that happened in my house.
Beep, beep, beep.
I woke up with the nightmare still fresh in my mind. I don't know if it was a warning or not but I'm not going to stay here.
I packed my things and started towards the front door. When I tried to walk out something stopped me. An invisible barrier.
"Did you think that was just a dream? You are stuck here!"
I heard the voice behind me but when I turned around I saw nothing. I looked out my window to see a woman paying someone else. I also saw a FOR SALE sign on my lawn.
"No!" I yelled.
They can't hear me.
They can't see me.
I am gone to the world.
Forever.
