Marie's POV
I looked at the door, then at the body. I had no idea what to do, and I didn't really care what would happen to this guy. I stood at the bottom of the stairs pondering if this guy really needed my help or not. 'Meh, why not..' I quickly and quietly stuffed the boy into a nearby closet. Finally I decided to open the door after preparing everything so it looks like nothing happened. Two very tired, frustrated, and intimidating cops towered over me.... Until one of them softened their expression and he spoke to me with a smile.
"Hello there, young lady, We were wondering if you have seen a boy or anything suspicious around here." I shook my head wanting them to leave, but they didn't, all they did was just stand there and stare at me.
"No? Okay then, where are your guardians?"
'Hmm....if they find out I'm living with myself they'll take me to an orphanage.' Yes, you're probably thinking what's so wrong with an orphanage...well I would never fit in, the food there is terrible, and they'll treat me worse than I feel. I carefully spoke and tried not to give away any information.
" They went on a business trip and won't be in town for a couple of weeks."
"Okay if you see or need anything we'll be here,"
I nodded with a fake, but persuading, smile that they believed and they finally left. I closed the door and let out a sigh of relief. I stared blankly at the closet from earlier and thought about what to do with him now. I could always just hand this boy back to the police, then this whole mess would be over with........ but wouldn't he suffer like I did? Plus he was already in my closet and I just saved him from getting thrown in the slammer. So he owes me one. 'I'll just keep him around for whenever I need something. But, I feel connected to this guy for some reason... like I shouldn't hurt him and he's important to me. How peculiar..'
