Chapter 2

Riker POV

There was a fake bed thing in one of the corners of my room. Is sort of looked like one of those beds in the nurse's office at school. And then in the other corner, there was a toilet and a sink. Everything was bolted to the ground.

I sat down on the bed, leaning against the wall. I brought my knees to my chest, hugging them tightly. I finally broke down into tears. Why am I here!? I didn't kill anyone!

I looked around the room. The floor was cement, the walls were white cinderblocks, and there was a bright light with a metal grate over it on the ceiling. My bed didn't have a pillow or any blankets.

Everything was depressing.

Later...

Rocky POV

Mom and dad were at the police station right now. Mom said she was going to demand that they let Riker out. But I didn't know if they would or not.

I felt so bad for Riker. He must be scared out of his mind.

Rydel and I were sitting on the couch next to each other. She had her head on my shoulder. I looked down at her, and she looked like she wanted to cry or something. I was upset too, but I mean, Riker didn't do it. And sooner or later, they're going to figure that out. Right?

Later...

Riker POV

There was a clock in my room that had a metal grate over it. I'd literally been sitting on this bed, doing nothing for 3 and a half hours.

I had my legs crossed tightly now because I really needed to go to the bathroom, but they had a camera on me, so I didn't want to go.

Suddenly, my door opened, startling me. Jim was standing there, looking at me.

"It's time for dinner."

"Can I please use the bathroom?" I asked, quietly.

"You can go right in your room."

"But there are cameras on me."

"Well that's your fault for committing a crime."

I sighed.

"Can I go to dinner?" I asked.

"Yes."

Jim handcuffed my hands in front of me this time. He held onto my arm tight as we walked downstairs to the cafeteria area. He led me over to a line of scary looking people. I took one of the lunch tray things, and held it while people put food on it for me.

Jim led me over to one of the tables. I sat down, and Jim stood off to the side while I ate. I wasn't even sure what I was eating. I think it was some sort of meat and mashed potatoes. Whatever it was, it wasn't that good.

I waved Jim over when I was finished.

"What do I do now?" I asked.

"Bring your tray over to that window. And then we'll go back up to your room."

I brought my tray over to the window.

"Before we go back up, could I please use the restroom?"

"Fine."

Jim brought me down a hallway. He unlocked my hands, and followed me into the bathroom. There were all these tiny stall door things like when I had to change clothes. But it was way better than having nothing, and cameras on you.

I quickly used the bathroom, and then washed my hands. Jim handcuffed me again, and then brought me back up to my room. He unlocked my hands, and locked me in my room. I went and sat on my bed. I had no blankets to sleep with...

I curled up in a ball on my bed, and let myself cry. I want to get out of here! Why hasn't my family gotten me out!? What if they think I really murdered that guy!?

Rocky POV

"Why can't they let Riker go?" Ross asked.

"They don't have any evidence that he's not guilty," dad said, annoyed.

"Well you said they don't have any evidence that he is guilty either!"

"They're almost sure he did it. They'd rather have him in jail just in case," mom said.

"But mom, you don't think he really did that, do you?" I asked.

"No, of course not. Riker would never do something like that!"

I sighed.

"They're so stupid! Why can't they just believe us?" Ross asked.

"The police can only believe evidence," dad said.

I sighed again, and then went up to mine and Riker's room. I looked over towards Riker's bed. It was still unmade from when he'd been sitting in it, watching TV when he got arrested.

My brother got arrested. How crazy is that!?
