Chapter 7
Later...
Riker POV
I woke up, and realized I was handcuffed to a bed in the health office. I sat up, groaning in pain. A nurse noticed, and came over.
"Riker, how are you feeling?"
"My head hurts... What happened?"
"You needed to get a few stitches."
"Oh..."
I started to remember. I was attacked sort of...
The nurse handed me a cup of water and a pill.
"It'll help with the pain."
I took the pill, and then the nurse left, saying she'd call Jim to take me back to my room. I started crying silently before Jim arrived. I wanted to go home, and curl up in bed. I didn't want to go to my cell. I shouldn't even be here! I don't deserve this!
"Riker, what's wrong?" Jim asked, walking over to me.
"I w-want to g-go home!" I cried, covering my face with the hand that wasn't handcuffed to my bed.
Jim sat down on the bed beside me, and put his hand on my back.
"I know you want to go home. But the police don't have any evidence yet."
"But I didn't do it! I shouldn't be here! I'm not guilty!"
"Riker, please calm down."
I fell over onto the bed so I was laying down again. I didn't have the energy to do this anymore! I didn't want to try to make it through!
Jim unlocked my handcuffs. He made me walk back up to my cell. Once the door was locked, I fell to my knees, and screamed as loud as I could, hitting the cement floor with my palms. I couldn't take it anymore! I couldn't do it! I wanted to end everything.
Rocky POV
"Ok, so we found out that the murder took place on the 19th at about 12:30. So if we could figure out if any of these guys weren't in school, then they're our suspect!" I said, shuffling some papers.
"Sounds good. But how are we going to see who was in class?" Rydel asked.
"We hack the school computers."
"Isn't that kind of illegal?"
"Only if we get caught."
"Rocky."
"Ok, ok... I'll ask the principle tomorrow. I'll go down to his office during lunch, explain to him what's going on, and I'll see if he lets me look at all that stuff."
"Ok."
Later...
Riker POV
My stomach hurt really bad, and I also had a really bad headache. It felt like I could hear my heart beating in my ears. The bright light in my cell was making everything worse.
I crawled under my bed, trying to be somewhere darker. And I was safer here too. There was no way I was ever going back down to the cafeteria. I'd gotten hurt way too many times, and my body was still sore! What if I died or something next time!?
I moved backwards under my bed until I was in the corner, pressed against the walls. I curled in a ball, and put my arms over my head, trying to make everything darker.
A little while later, I heard the door open.
"Riker?"
Jim knelt down, and looked at me under the bed.
