Could Have Been

Charlotte, who is rushing her way home accidentally bumps into a lady who happens to also making her way on her own destination.

"Sorry miss.. sorry. Nagmamadali lang talaga ko." she apologetically said.

"Oh no. Ako nga dapat ang magsorry. Hindi ako tumitingin sa dinadaanan ko." the lady lifts up her face causing Charlotte to creased her forehead.

"Ate? Ate Mia?"

"Charlotte? Ikaw na ba yan? As in Charlotte Fuentebella? Look at you! You've grown beautifully! Gosh! I can't believe it is you I'm facing now. So gorgeous." the lady who's into her early twenty's laud in excitement.

"Ate Mia talaga oh. But yes, it's me. And I miss you ate! So much!" Charlotte answers then throw her arms on Mia.

"Aw! I miss you too! It's been what? 5 years! Ahm.. are you in a hurry?"

"Ah.. hindi naman gaano. Nagmamadali lang ako kanina kasi may hinahabol akong gawain. But, hindi naman sya ganung kaimportante."

"Good. I have so many things to ask you and I want to talk about it over a cup of coffee sana?" Mia said which Charlotte immediately agree.

"So.. how's life? I mean, how are you?" Mia asked her as she sips her coffee.

"Good. So far so good ate. I'm currently a branch manager."

"Really? Glad to hear that. Well, if you're going to ask me, dati pa din. Dun pa din ako nagwowork." Mia said causing the two of them shook their heads. It's their inside joke.

Charlotte then suddenly smiled from ear to ear when she received a message.

"Boyfriend? May boyfriend ka na?" Mia suspiciously asked her.

"No. I haven't. It's my best friend."

"So, wala ka pang boyfriend? Bakit?"

"What do you mean why ate Mia? It should be why not? I mean, wala eh. Nagtry naman ako. Pero wala parin talaga eh. Di palang siguro right time." she answered then shrugged.

She just can't simply say the real reason why she's still single. Because she can't even admit to her best friend that she's waiting for him. Him who she last seen  years ago. Her the one that got away. Who took her heart and never give it back.

"Di pa right time o baka naman may hinihintay ka?" Mia teased her. And shoot. She got it right.

She only shook her head as an answer.
