I didn't know what to do, he was sitting right next to me in the turn lane at a stoplight at 10:35PM. Sure it was dark, so how did I know it was him? His speedometer lit up his face. I did a double-take to make sure it was him. He looked straight at me and i could see him say the word "whoa" and then smile his amazing smile. Then he revved his engine at me! As if we were going to race! Yeah, you're real funny.Too bad though, I would have gladly accepted the competition. He had some kind of tiny Honda from the 1990's while I had a 1967 Chevy Chevelle SS that would leave his in the dust. I loved that car.
That red light seemed to take hours. I wanted out of there. Fast. I didn't want all the memories to come flooding back, although I knew there was no stopping them later. I didn't want him to see me break, but it was just too painful to see him again after all this time.
I looked in the rear view mirror, to try to distract myself, and saw my mediocre looking face staring back at me. My hazel eyes were catching the lights from the street lights, which brightened them. My short blond hair was lazily put up into a ponytail. My complexion was perfect, but I didn't care, just one more thing I didn't have to worry about every morning. "I wish I was prettier" I thought to myself. Just then, my phone vibrated. It was a text from him that said 'Look<---' I laughed at the arrow and looked over at his car. Him, the two guys in the back, and the girl in the front, were all making some pretty dumb faces at me. Childish.
Finally the light turned green.
