Chapter 26

The next morning Maya felt like a new woman. She woke up late and stayed to bed for some time. She kept thinking of the time she and Nicolas had spend together the previous day. And of course of his talk about liking her and intending to keep her in his life. It was as if he had opened the door of optimism for her. She cleaned her house, prepared lunch for her and Christy and even answered all of her questions without any disagreement. She was on a high cloud. Christy was happy for her and admitted that she had never seen Maya that happy in all the years she knew her.

And of course the flowers kept coming. On Sunday they came in the afternoon followed by a phone call from him that was supposed to last minutes but in the end lasted two and half hours. They were both reluctant to end the phone call but when Christy returned to Maya's apartment, Maya was the one that told him goodbye. On Monday the flowers were waiting in her office when she got in along with a glowing July that practically demanded to know who the mystery guy was and if he had a brother. Maya teased her about Greg her new boyfriend, and how she was supposed to be thinking only of him. She teased her that much that she left hot and bothered without pursuing more for the identity of Maya's secret admirer.

That week during the work time Maya and Nicolas worked side by side, the one perfectly supplementing the other. During lunch times most of the times they ate together in his office, but one or two times Maya ate with the girls so that they would not suspect something of their relationship being more than professional. But those three times they spent lunch time together were enough for Nicolas to be announced Maya's personal tyrant. The girls shared with her the title they now had for him on Friday and although she tried to convince them that she did not mind to combine work and lunch, they kept calling him like that. Maya could not wait to tease him about his new found title.

Every day after work they both got home took a quick shower and then met to go to the movies or for dinner or some concert they both liked. In general they were glued to the hip and they both loved it. They talked about everyone and everything. Their previous relationships were a sore subject but Nicolas managed to make Maya feel comfortable enough to tell him some things about her disastrous relationship with JD. He knew that she omitted the most embarrassing details and he did not push her to tell him more because he could see how uncomfortable it made her feel. The asshole had really done a number to her confidence.

What she did mention though, that he did not already know, was that her accident had not only cost her her baby, but also that it had scarred her internally and she was still healing from it. She told him that although the doctors had reassured her that she would probably have no problems conceiving in the future, she was still worried since her monthly flow had not returned yet. Nicolas wanted to kill JD more than ever, when he saw the hurt in her beautiful face. He was certain that they would make adorable babies together and if there was one in a million chance she could not conceive, he was all in for an adoption plan. Of course he did not share those last thoughts of his with her because he did not want her to jump to the roof. But he had plans for them. Plans that included a wedding and beautiful pink babies and a house for them to live in together.
