Every day

21 3 1

On the sunny days
We smiled
Like daffodils dizzy from sunshine
Our laughter echoed
Like the first steps in a new house

On the rainy days
We dripped
Like a sad old tap
We hid under umbrellas
Feeling like it was a world of our own

On the cold days
We rattled
Like an old engine
We hugged tight
So tight we thought we might become one

On your last days
We did not cry
Because we knew we had fun
We said our goodbyes
As you slipped away
Into your own world of love

Now I must admit I miss you
On the good days and the bad
But knowing I'll be with you someday
Makes me oh so glad

Because then I can tell you
About everything you've missed
And I can remind you
What it's like to be kissed
