Warm Welcoming

At first, I didn't know where I was. Everywhere I looked, it was dark. Thunder rumbled above me, alerting me of a nearby storm. I expected rain, but none came. Deeper and deeper I went, looking for something I was unsure of. I gasped as I saw a lingering shadow from the corner of my eye. I turned as swiftly as I could, but the silhouette was long gone.

I wanted to call out for someone, but there was nobody I could think of who could run that fast. Nobody but the lovely twins that I had met only years back. Beautiful and graceful, yet lethal and monstrous.

Then, the figure reappeared, but this time I could see its face. He had strong, prominent features. His jet black hair was slicked back and out of his face. I didn't know what to think of him, but I knew exactly who he was. Alec had told me of him.

His eyes were ruby red and dangerously poisonous. The twins used to tell me stories of his powerful gift, hoping that I would be able to perfect it without meeting him in person. I had already gotten Jane and Alec's gifts down with no problem. I always felt so powerful using both gifts.

With Jane's gift it was like having a bunch of weight being lifted off of you. Jane's favorite part was that you get to watch the weight be put onto someone else. Alec's gift is a little bit different. It took much concentration, but after practice it got easier. Taking all senses away from somebody was just as satisfying as Jane's gift. I didn't enjoy using these gifts upon others, but it was a relief to let them out.

A gust of wind hit my face and made my eyes water. I thought myself foolish to not bring a jacket to keep me warm. My teeth started to chatter as I came closer and closer to Aro. He had the smile of the devil upon his face, yet he looked so fantastically angelic. I couldn't look away, my mouth slightly open in awe.

I never thought it possible, but Aro was much more graceful in his movements than the twins were. He lifted his right hand up and placed it upon my shoulder. I shivered under his cool touch. I was speechles, but I could feel the fear radiating through my body. I was positive he could, too.

 "I've been waiting." He whispered.

My eyes snapped open and a small scream escaped my lips. "Shh!" The passenger next to me looked at me with condescending eyes.

"S-sorry." I stuttered, catching my breath.

"Humph," the older woman huffed, rolling her eyes. She had wrinkles lining her face and her hair was graying. I wanted so badly to laugh at her, but I suppressed my giggles.

Getting off the plane, I had the desire to eat something, for I eat when I get nervous. I saw Charlie standing there with a little sign, and couldn't help but to sigh in relief. He had a tiny smile on his face. I was glad to see he hadn't changed all that much.

He was still tall, but he had a look of distress on his face, as if he were giving up. When he saw me, he lightened up completely. He gave me a timid smile, and I chuckled to myself as I saw so how much I resembled him.

"Hey Bells," he said pulling me into an awkward hug.

"Hey dad," I said with my cheek pressed against his over sized bomber jacket.

"How have you been?" he asked me, as he turned and started walking in the other direction. This is what I had expected. A quick embrace and then off to the races. My father and I had never really ever been affectionate people.

"Pretty good, what about you? What has the secretive sheriff been up to lately?" I questioned him.

"Nothing exciting." He shrugged.
