“Hold on just a second. Cristian did what?” Amy screeched, coming to a halt in flipping through a book of flower bouquet styles. Being Amy's Maid of Honor in her wedding, Jeanna was going to accompany her to a local florist later that afternoon.

Jeanna twirled the tab on the tea bag as she swirled the liquid in her mug, keeping her eyes focused downward. “He wants to make us official... He wants me to meet his parents.”

“Girl, you do realize you're stealing my spotlight, right?”Amy teased. She forcefully pulled Jeanna into a hug. “That's great! So, why does it seem like you have a problem with it?”

Jeanna looked up from the table and shrugged. “I don't know. I just feel like being in a committed relationship isn't in Risa's best interest. I want to make sure that her needs are met first.”

“Jeanna. You being happy is in her best interest. Come on, this guy obviously really likes you... Do you like him?”

Her hesitation was enough of an answer for Amy. “I gotcha. Well you've guys have just been seeing each other for a few weeks. Maybe tell him you wanna go slow. Tell him how you feel that it's too early. He'll listen.”

Jeanna nodded slowly and took a sip of her tea. She was done wanting to discuss this topic. What she hadn't told Amy was that she was having feelings resurface for Aaron. But Amy wouldn't understand those. Aaron and Jeanna's relationship goes back before she met Amy. Aaron was Jeanna's first love, and it was just too hard and too awkward to discuss that even with her best friend.

“What about some pale pink peonies for your bouquet? That would accent your dress pretty well...”

All thoughts of Jeanna's relationship problems melted away from Amy's mind as she was re-submerged into planning the most important day of her life. “I don't know...” She thought briefly about the design of the dress she had bought: simple, lace back with small pearl buttons. “What do you think about a bouquet of daisies?”

Jeanna scrunched her nose up. “I don't think so. They'll look kinda cheap and will probably wilt before the end of the ceremony. The wedding's in August, so something not too summery and not autumn... bear with me when I say this. But a bit of cornflower, spidermum, cymbidium orchid, gloriosa lily, dahlia, montebretia, vanda orchid, and lisanthus would be spot on... Sorry, my mom used to be a florist and she still does it on the side, but it'll look something like this.” Jeanna picked up a pen and pulled the legal pad of wedding prep notes over and drew a sketch of the bouquet she envisioned. “I'm sure they can do it.” (x)

“That would be perfect!” Amy practically squealed like a little girl. Her wedding was in three weeks and she could hardly contain her excitement. “Monkey Girl, come here!”

Jeanna laughed at Amy's reference for Risa. That girl had a ton of nicknames. A few seconds later, Risa came tottering into the kitchen, phone glued to her ear, talking a mile a minute. She was three, almost four and had the communication skills of a five year old (minus her childish accent/lisp). “Hold on, Daddy. Amy wants me... What? No, I'm not done talking to you!... Okay. I love you, too. Bye-bye!”

“Are you still going to be my flower girl?” Amy asked once she had Risa's attention.

Risa beamed. “Uh-huh!”

“If I put some flowers in your hair, would you keep them there?” She nodded and Amy continued. “Okay, come here. I wanna show Mommy how I want to fix your hair.” Surprisingly, Risa obeyed without question, allowing Amy to tug her red curls back into a french braided fish tail. “Maybe have some baby's breath or jasmine here and there in the braid? Which ever I have because I'll have some flowers in my hair, too.” Amy started to ramble, and Jeanna let her. She was excited, but at the same time she was jealous. If things had taken a different turn in college, maybe Jeanna would be in Amy's shoes. Jeanna sighed. I guess I'll never know what could have happened between us.
