A week had passed and nothing really had changed in Robert's life. Unless you count Ralph being put in charge and the 7-11 not carrying Coke products anymore. Every other 7-11 in the world stocks Coke! Not this one! Drew says it's the "cutting edge" and all Ralph's idea! How can he tell what his ideas are if all he can say is "Raallfff"?! Robert abhors Pepsi! It all goes back to his childhood and involves almost drowning in a swimming pool which was somehow filled with Pepsi, which is another story for another time.
The store is making money hand over fist now though. It seems like Ralph knows everybody and they all love him! Some come into the store just to talk to him, ask his advice about things or just flirt with him (guys and girls mind you...).
One day Robert's shift is, thankfully, almost over and Ralph comes up to the register and grins at Robert all of his teeth showing like always. Robert is over it. He keeps telling himself fifteen more minutes and I am out of here. He can't do anything to me in that time I'm home free.
Ralph points to a crappy little statue up on the top shelf behind the counter. It's part of some sort of shrine Drew has for someone. His kid or his wife or whatever made it and they are not around anymore. He is not sure why. He wasn't listening when he was blathering on about it. Anyway the point he was making with the story is never to touch it. So Robert dosen't. Drew has a cleaning service come in and clean just that shelf. The employees (or or Robert that is, Ralph never cleans anything) clean the rest of the store.
Ralph holds his claw up and the statue falls off the shelf smashing on the ground. Ralph then grins and walks away. Robert, scared out of his mind by the statue breaking and by what he just saw that Ralph could do, hops over the counter and almost knocks over a customer in his haste to leave.
--------------
The next day a red faced Drew meets Robert at the door as he comes into work.Obviously trying very hard to keep ahold of his temper Drew, through clenched teeth, asks Robert is he knew what happened. The truth being too unbelievable he again resorts to telling a story.
"I don't know what happened. It was up there at the end of my shift."
Drew frowns and asks Robert to follow him to the back room. "Robert you are aware we have cameras all around the store correct?"
Robert was very aware of the cameras. There was one pointed directly at the statue. He was as good as rid of Ralph as soon they watched those tapes. He sat down in front of the monitor confident that things would be back to normal soon.
What he saw left him speechless. He saw himself drag the stocking latter over behind the counter. Climb up to the shelf and knock the statue off the shelf. The Robert on the screen then jumped down quickly, jumped over the counter almost knocked a customer over on the way out the door.
While Robert was trying to gather is thoughts and try to defend himself. Drew, still trying to contain his rage, told him through clenched teeth. "You are fired."
Oh no! Robert lost his job! But it wasn't his fault! What happens now?! Comment or message me what you think should happen next.
