What I had expected to see was not what it was. Everything was dark. Pitch black. There was no light. I held on tightly to Kaeith, afraid that he would suddenly disappear as the door behind us closed. Did we enter the wrong place? But Kaeith had looked so sure when we stepped into this place.
I was starting to panic and I held his arm even tighter.Kaeith placed his other hand on mine gently and whispered,"Don't worry." He then snapped his fingers and suddenly bright lights clouded my vision. The sudden intense brightness stinged my eyes and I felt a slight headache. I had to squint to make out my surroundings.
"What was that?" I asked confusingly, shaking my head in wonder. "An illusion." he stated.
The room was huge and majestic. Gem studded crystal chandeliers were hanged from the ceiling and the biggest one above the centre of the dancing area. The walls were adorned with exquisite decorations, the general theme gold. Standing tables were all around and it itself was an art piece, undoubtedly as expensive as everything else in the room. Near the walls were rows and rows of tables and on them were golden plates of every delicacy there is.
There were already many guests around, some were indulged in deep conversation, occasionally sipping from their glasses of expensive wine and others at the centre of the ballroom swaying to the soft slow music with their partners.
On Kaeith's left, there was a tall man in an expensive tailored suit. I glanced curiously at him while Kaeith exchanged a few words with the man, suddenly he turned to me and asked sheepishly. "What is your full name?". "Tessela Von Relto. " i hastily replied. Kaeith looked a little surprised but he quickly turned back to the man again.
Kaeith turned to face the crowd, taking me with him and the man boomed,"Welcome Signore Kaeith Von Cameron and Signorina Tessela Von Relto.".
Everyone came a stand still, they had all ceased their actions and were staring at us. There were suddenly murmurs of astonishment and shock everywhere among the crowd. I took a look at Kaeith and a thought came to me. 'His mission here today was to find a future wife!' No wonder people were staring at me. The young women especially. With daggers.
I started to disentangle my hand from his arm, but his hand held mine firmly. I whispered quickly to Kaeith, "Aren't you supposed to find your future wife? If everyone sees this," I pointed at his hand covering mine on his arm, "you may not be able to find a future wife." I emphasized heavily on the word, wife.
"So be it." Kaeith said nonchantly. I gave him a frown and said, "Don't blame me if you start regretting then." He simply smiled and walked down the red carpeted stairs. The sea of people that had stopped moving and surrounded the bottom of the stairs were all moving aside to let both of us pass. I was feeling so nervous that I practically had to lean slightly onto Kaeith for support. He grabbed me closer and whispered words of encouragement to me as we continued walking.
When we finally stopped moving, I realised that we were at the centre of the ballroom. I look questioningly at Kaeith. He just grinned and took my hands in his and guided one of my hands to his shoulder. He then place one hand on my waist and held my other hand. "OMG. We are going to dance?!" I screamed in my mind as realisation dawned upon me on what he had planned.
Kaeith leaned in to me and whispered, "Just relax and follow my lead." I nodded my head nervously and prayed to all the Gods above. The music started up again, this time the tempo was a little faster than the previous song. Kaeith started to sway slightly with the tempo and I quickly followed him.
Kaeith's dancing skills were excellent as I tried hard not to mess up. He was able to move with so much grace, confidence qnd speed that I find it hard to keep up with him.
