Hinata didn't know if he would ever be able to truly love, the emotion that humans around him seemed to be absolutely infatuated with.

However, Hinata Shouyou isn't exactly human. He is an immortal being, living solely by the Sun's power. As long as it exists, he isn't going anywhere. Shouyou's existed since the major star's creation, watching as several civilizations rise into the light, and fall back into the shadows.

As far as he's come to know, these sorts of affairs never end well. He's held a few girlfriends and boyfriends here and there, but they all die before he does.

Until Tsukishima came along.

It happens all by chance, in the orange-haired individual's umpteenth lifetime's worth of living. He's walking in the halls of the quiet school he's resigned himself to for the time being.

BUMP. Two sets of near identical textbooks fall to the ground.

"Hey. Watch where you're going, shrimpy." Hinata looks up, into the most beautiful golden brown eyes he's ever seen. "I have a class to get to." The tall human's blonde hair is cropped perfectly short to match his sullen expression.

"Oh..." The immortal who looks 15 bites his lower lip, brown orbs darting sheepishly to the ground. "Sorry."

"Tch. Idiot." The megane glares disapprovingly as he scoops up his things, carrying them away.

Shouyou can't speak as he does the same, picking up one notebook after another. The human's beauty has blinded him. As he sits in his next period, he notices... the pad of paper on top of the stack he holds isn't his. He opens it up, and sees a name printed neatly in the top left corner of the cover.

Property of Tsukishima Kei

"Tsuki...shima...?"

-----------------------------------------

At the end of the day, on his way out, Hinata clutches the booklet that belongs to Kei in his two small, soft hands. He's paying so much attention to it that he doesn't look where he's going, again, and ends up bumping into the very person he was looking for.

"What is it with you and not watching your step?" An irked voice pricks up.

"Uh... Erm... I think this is yours-" Hinata starts, but Tsukishima quickly cuts him off.

"Damn right, it's mine. My name's on the inside." He says, in an extremely irritated tone. "Now hand it over."

"Fine," Shouyou starts to feel frustrated himself, his eyes temporarily flashing a blazing gold to combat that of the Sun, but it soon dissipates as he holds the Campus notepad out. What little feeling he felt himself carrying for the blonde early is quickly stepped on, ruined by the sour nature of the mortal in question. "But you don't have to be such an ass about it, Stingyshima. You're leading people on that way."

As Hinata turns to walk away, he doesn't realize that Tsukishima has paid no mind to the insult, instead, he pulls his glasses off, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Oi..." The orange-haired cheeto spins around in the (now empty) hallway at the sound of his new acquaintance's voice.
"You're a fumetsu, aren't you."

Hinata's at a loss for words. Never, in his 2000+ years of life has anyone ever found him out for what he is. He gulps nervously, glancing around. The intense panic he currently feels is enough to set him on a type of sugar high, some hyperactivity. The megane sits, light brown eyes staring patiently back at Shouyou. "We can't talk about this. At least, not here."

The two hurry to exit the confines of the building, but in all their frantic rushing they don't notice the pair of cold brown orbs following them as they go.
