*Your Pov*
"Are we there yet?" I ask in my car seat. I've been getting restless at this point."Our new house is just up the street (y/n), we'll be there any minute just be patient," Dad answers from the driver's seat. His window was cracked down about two inches. Just enough to make the short hair he had flutter in the wind. Mom's hair on the other hand...well...she's probably considering a haircut right now.
"Finally!" I say as we pull up to a beautiful three bedroom house. Two rooms upstairs and one on the mainfloor. Then the basement. My mom is pregnant. She's due in a little less than a month. We had to move from our apartment; there wasn't any room for a new baby.
I run upstairs to the room with all my stuff in it. There's a window facing the street and all the other houses in the neighborhood. I sit on the windowsill and see a little boy in the house across from mine. He's looking through the window too. Our eyes meet and I duck under. Boys are gross.
I skip back to mom and dad downstairs. "Can we go out for dinner?" I ask.
"That's a good idea!" Dad says. "I saw a place driving by, we could go there."
We drive to the restaurant. Once we get there, a nice lady sits us at a booth. I sit by Mom and Dad sits across from us. I rip through the plastic wrapping to get to the crayons so I can start drawing.
As I'm coloring I glance around at the new restaurant. Then, I see the boy from across the street. Our eyes meet again but neither of us look away. He sticks his tongue out at me.
What's his deal? I think to myself. I continue to color.
"I have to pee!" I get down from the booth and rush to the restroom. Before I walk through the door I see the boy.
"You!" I stop him.
"What do you want?"
"Why did you stick your tongue out at me? I don't even know you!"
"You're just a girl. Stay outta my way. My neighborhood hates girls."
I still have no idea what he's talking about. I stare at him some more and he stares back. I hold my head high and walk into the bathroom. In the bathroom I kinda wish I had gotten his name. Even though I'm sure he won't tell me. At least I know what he looks like. Taller than me. Short black hair.
Tomorrow I'm going to be going to a new school. It's the middle of the year so I'll still have time to make plenty of new friends.
*Le Time Skip*
"You ready for your first day?""It's not my first day," I correct Dad.
"Want us to walk to school with you?" Mom asks.
"That's okay, I remember how to get there. I think I'm going to take my bike anyways." I wave bye and head out the door. As I'm riding to school I see the boy on his bike a head of me, on the other side of the street. I start pumping as fast as my small legs will let me. He glances as I begin to pass him and he start pedaling faster too. I get there just a couple seconds before him. He puts his bike on the rack and looks at me with anger.
"That's what happens when you're mean to girls for no reason. Let that sit in your head, you got beat by a girl." I smile at him.
"Shut up you stupid girl." He starts to walk into the school.
What? How come he didn't care I beat him? Why is he so mean?
