The room seemed to cave in. I felt unsteady, and i tried desperately to stand up straight. He... he could like me? The thought circled my head like an annoying fly. I had to catch myself from falling over twice.
"You okay?" Jared asked, taking notice of my sickened appearence. I breathed in slowly, trying to calm myself down.
"Why is it such a big deal anyway? Cam's just a dude, not a prince." He muttered, laying back down on his bed. I looked up at him, and awway from the floor. Why was it such a big deal? my heart thumped hard in my chest and my mouth went dry. Did I like him back...?
"I think I-" I paused. Am I saying the right thing? Jared glanced over at me waiting for an answer.
"I... like him..." My face reddened and I looked away. Jared stayed silent before he sat up and scoffed.
"Everyone likes Cameron, what makes you so special?" Jared began to sound annoyed. I began to fidget with my hands.
"I-I..." I stopped and watched as Jared got up and pushed me against the wall. He pinned my arms down and I was too afraid to try and move away from him. He looked at me and his eyes narrowed on mine.
"You think Cameron would go for a girl like you? You and him are from two different planets, the opposite ends of the spectrum." I just listened in slience as my heart raced. Jared leaned in closer to me and his voice got quieter.
"He's loved by everyone, you're heh, let's face it. You're feared. You're ignored, you know why? Because you're different. You aren't normal." My heart ached by the last word and I shut my eyes and sighed.
"Why are you telling me the things I already know?" I whispered, pain echoing in my voice. Jared was about to say something, but the door was thrown open.
"Adriana!" I heard Cameron shout from the doorway. I looked at the floor as Jared was pulled off of me.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" CAmeron growled through clenched teeth. Jared scoffed.
"What did it look like I was doing? She's hot, and it's not like she belongs to you." I looked up and saw Cameron's face red with anger. He looked over at me and I sighed.
"Stop it." I said in a monotonous tone. they both watched me.
"I've already caused you both enough trouble. Please forgive me for my rude actions." I walked toward the door. Cameron's gaze followed me.
"Adriana...?" He asked in a softer tone. I paused and turned back at them.
"I'll see you later Cameron." I left the room and walked back the way I came. I saw Katrina walking down the hallway and her face brightened as she saw me.
"Adi~!" She said excitedly. I smiled and kneeled down to her level. She left foward and hugged me. I held her gently in my arms.
"Katrina...can you do something for me?" I asked quietly. She nodded. I whispered in her ear quietly and left her out of my arms. She looked at me confused.
"What do you mean by that Adi...?" I smiled sadly and patted her head gently.
"Take care of your brothers for me Katrina." I stood back up and began my walk back out again. I felt Katrina's gaze follow me to the door. I wiped my eyes and smiled at her.
"Bye bye." I let myslef out and shut the front door behind me.
I took a breath in and looked up at the orange and pink sky. The pain in my head had grown a little more. I sighed and began to walk back home.
