CHAPTER 3: TERRIBLE IDEAS AND BAD PASTA.
You know the feeling where everything is going perfectly fine for you but you don't want to enjoy it because you just know it's just life looking down at you, waiting for you to have your fun before it swoops in and fucks your shit up? Yea that's how I felt this morning.
I wake up energized. Energized. How many seventeen year olds can attest to that? After I shower I decide to let my hair air dry because I am going to put it up in a bun anyway so why bother? And when it dried it just kinda.... Fell into place. I don't know how to explain it. It was basically a great hair day so I decide to milk it for as long as possible. I drive to Maddy's house―and this is where I confirmed my theory of an unnaturally good day― and once I send her an 'I'm outside' she just walks out her front door immediately.
"I'm either having the best day of my life or the worst." I grumble to her as I leave her driveway.
"Why do you say that?"
"Well, look at my hair." I raise one hand from the steering wheel and raise a clump of my hair.
"Yeah, I was about to comment, It looks really good today. What did you do to it?"
"That's the thing, nothing! I did nothing to it!"
"Yup I get what you mean now." She nods. "Don't over think it like you usually do."
"I'll try but it's going to be difficult seeing that the wo―"
"Aspen."
"Right. No over thinking." Maddy stretches her hand to the aux cord to plug in her phone but I slap her hand away. "How many times do I have to say this― Aspens car Aspens music."
"But―"
"Aspens music." She reluctantly drops her hand and mutters something about me being childish.
"At least play something we both enjoy." I groan and reluctantly change the artist playing from MCR to The Neighborhood. She relaxes in her seat and sings along. I swear this girl is too high maintenance.
We get to school and she leaves me to meet up with Jay a couple feet away. I wave at him and walk into the school building. The day goes by as usual. Same boring ass classes with the same creepy ass teachers. Why can't my school be one of those that employ young sexy male teachers with British accents? He doesn't even have to be a teacher, he could be a sub or library assistant. The accent is not even necessary, I'll settle for anything. I'm pretty sure attendance and class participation will triple with girls. But of course that doesn't happen.
After my last class before lunch, I make my way to the cafeteria and walk towards the food line. When I get my food I begin to walk towards my table but I stop dead in my tracks. Maddy and Jay are already at the table.
But so are Declan and George.
I'm about to turn around and book it. I could eat on the bleachers or something. As I'm about to turn around, Maddy catches my eyes and gives me a pleading look. I give her the I'm sorry look and just about turn around when Jay looks at me following Maddy's eyes. He waves me over. His gesture makes the two unwelcome guests look up and at me. Well there's no turning back now. I swallow my nerves and walk towards the table. The table has only one free seat which, luckily, is beside Maddy but it's also beside George seeing as our lunch tables are round. I sit down looking at my food. I really regret using up my battery during my English class because it would be the perfect thing to use in this situation.
