Wattpad.
For you to be seeing this, you're on it.
Wikipedia defines it as a writing community in which users are able to post articles, stories, fan fiction, and poems but most of us see it as more than that. We see it as a medium where we can actualize our most cliché fantasies by writing it or reading it.
For it to be a fantasy, it can't come through...right?

I pull out my phone and text Maddy a quick 'I'm here'. She replies almost immediately with 'five minutes tops' and I groan knowing her five minutes is definitely not in the five minute region at all. Trust Maddy to be late on a monday morning. Actually, she's always late when it's my turn to drive but when its hers, she'd be in my house while I'm in the shower mainly because my mum makes the best pancakes you've ever had. I look at my phones time and I realize we are definitely going to be late for homeroom.
"I'm sorry my stupid brother blew the fuse so I had to let my hair air dry." She says getting into my car after 10 minutes and saying the 'stupid brother' part much louder than the rest of her statement and earning an equally loud 'fuck off' in return. You gotta love sibling relationships.
"It's fine. Just wish the fuse will blow on one of your days once in a while." I mutter the last part.
"It's just coincidence!" She defends.
"Mhmmm."
she just rolls her eyes and concentrates on plugging the aux cord into her phone. Stressed out blasts out of my sound system making me literally jump out of my seat while Maddy just sits there laughing.
"Hey! Aspen's car, Aspen's music." I remind her.
"Oh come on. You love this song."
"Fine, just this once." I give in.
Sometimes I truly do hate her. But what will I do without her?

Luckiliy, we got in when homeroom just ended so we just went with the flow to our first class. Maddy had creative writing while I had AP Biology. In senior year, all seniors get to drop two classes that they think will not contribute anything to their future careers. I dropped creative writing and Home Economics while Maddy dropped physics and chemistry. Like they say, opposites attract.
I went through the day like I usually do, coasting along the hallways, blending into crowds and getting into classes on time. Math is the only class I have with Maddy and luckily that's the only class where the teacher does not care about our assigned seats so she seats next to me and we just talk about the randomest shit ever. Mr. Yolaf gives us so many warning glances that I'm pretty sure he was about to give us detention. In every other class I just sit, pull out my notebook and pass time by reading a book on wattpad. sometimes, I talk to the person beside me, but rarely. I'm basically invisible at school. I mean, it's not that difficult when you're average height with brown hair and brown eyes (although I wear grey contacts) and your whole style consists of mainly T-shirts, sweat shirts and jeans. I have nothing against popular people, really, they aren't the block headed jocks or the slutty bimbos― make no mistake, some are― that popularity is usually stereotyped as. Once the bell rings, I get up and go to the cafeteria with my earphones in my ear blasting centuries by fall out boy. I join the lunch line and buy food for myself and Maddy because she's tutoring some guy history which means she'd be about 15 to 20 minutes late.
I eat my food slowly to pass time while waiting for Maddy to show up. Weirdly, she's taking more time than usual. While I wait they come into the cafeteria. You know that cliché group of boys that play some sort of sport and are somehow always super hot making girls flock after them but they never seem to notice or just don't care? yup, that's them. Declan, Jay and George.
Declan is like their leader and also the hottest, although some may disagree. He has the whole model-esque thing going for him with his face chiseled with cheekbones that could cut steel, deep green eyes and chestnut locks that fall over his forehead in an organised-but-disorganized manner. His smile is very rare but is a thing of beauty. He's the all-rounder in his squad and although he's not quaterback on the football team, he's the team captain.
There's Jay, quarter-back of the football team, star athlete and major goofball. He captures girls hearts by laughing his way in which isn't very difficult with his boyish charms.
Lastly there's George. He's on the track team and is pretty great at it. He's kind of the misfit of the group and he's extremely blunt. He's the perfect badboy's stereotype with the countless black outfits and the perfect features. The only things missing are the leather jacket and the going around and beating people up part —he kinda keeps to his two friends. A lot of girls think he's the hottest or whatever but due to how private he is, people just assume he's bad news and they usually steer clear of him.
Did I mention that they're all players? No? Well forgive my manners. They're not only players, but they are the worst kind. They worm their way into girls hearts, do whatever they want and then dump them. But with them, the girls are the ones who beg them. It's like there's some sort of spell on them and it freaking creeps me out the effect they have. They could literally just glance at a girl and she'd buy them lunch and wash their car. Really, it's happened before.
Maddy finally shows up almost immediately after the boys walked in. she flops into her seat and takes a huge bit of her pizza, eaing the complete slice in less than a minute. The thing is, she never eats that fast unless she's confused or stressed out―or both.
"Slow down there, tiger." I say. She finally looks up as if just noticing me. "You okay."
"Yup. Do I not look okay?" She asks with a wild look in her eyes.
"Nope. You look great." I reply holding up a thumb. I figured, she'd crack soon enough.
After about five minutes of us eating in silence, I finally speak. "So I finished the book I was reading today."
"What's it about?"
"It's a wattpad book. The usual―popular guy meets girl, they hit it off but this book was really funny so it was a nice one."
She starts playing with her fingers on the table. "Does, the guy toy with the girls heart?" She asks unsurely. "Or something." She adds and then drops her head.
I blink once. Twice. Thrice. "Maddy are you okay? First you come in here stress eating and now you're asking me how a wattpad book ends? you hate wattpad. You call it 'a place where horny 13 year olds go to write fantasies about one direction'."
"No, I never said thaat..." She defends baffling me even more.
"I'm pretty sure those were your exact words." I reply. "Is it the guy your tutoring? Is he stressing you because you could always stop."
"No." She replies too quickly. I narrow my eyes.
"Maddy..."
"Well maybe I've had a change of heart and no longer think wattpad is shit. Maybe I think the popular guy can fall for the under-the-radar girl." She says staring into space. I follow her eyes and see she's not just looking into space but at someone who is staring right back.
"Jay?!"
She finally snaps out of it and glances at me wide eyed and blushing. "What? no."
"Oh my God! He's the one you're tutoring and you're crushing on him!" She doesn't bother to correct me so I know it's true. Her blush deepens and she unconsciously bites her lower lip." I gasp.
"You totally kissed him!"
"Stop fucking shouting! The whole school is going to hear!"
"I need details." I say totally abandoning my half eaten pudding cup and Maddy begins to tell me the whole story leading up to the kiss, blushing her cheeks off and ever so frequently glancing at Jay Thomas. The thing is, he was glancing over here just as much which made the little smile never leave my lips.
