I don't own the picture, but it looks incredible!
Just letting you guys know that this chapter reveals something you may not expect. But Hidan was always described as a sadistic human being so yeah ..... You have been warned.
Third Person POV:
It was a quiet night, a half moon hanging in the sky as the stars dance and twinkle their way around the night sky. Takeo sits quietly on the roof of his apartment building, feet dangling over the edge as he hums a quiet tune before reciting an all too familiar quote, "My demons, though quiet, are never quiet silenced. Calm as they may be, they wait patiently for a reason to wake, take an overdue breath, and crawl back to my ear..."
His soft voice was barely audible, not wanting to wake the village up as he enjoys the peaceful night away from prying eyes. But he didn't have to worry about anyone hearing or seeing him now, it was 2am after all. Light bouts of insomnia had been effecting his sleeping patterns since he arrived at the Village Hidden in the Leaves.
It wasn't too bad as most nights he could sleep well, but on the off nights like tonight, he really struggled. Nights like these usually resulted in him sitting on this roof top, eating a bowl of instant ramen or two and enjoying his solitude. Never once did he wake Koneko, allowing the growing caracal her sleep while he is left to his own tainted thoughts.
He had never once in a million years thought that he'd end up in the Leaf Village permanently. It had never seemed feasible but here he was, living within the village, with the Hokage's blessings and living under the same roof as the one and only Kakashi Hatake.
He had been asked by Kakashi the night prior of what he remembered from his three day torture stint. Takeo had lied so easily that it frightened him, he was really his father's son after all. He did resent Hidan, but he couldn't shake the belief that family was absolute and that they only had eachother- that had been drilled into him for as long as he could remember.
Takeo had never been one to share his personal life with anyone, but few found ways to break through the wall he built around himself and had discovered the truth. The Third Hokage, Haku, Zabuza, Itachi, Kisame and Konan, had been the few to really know the true extent to which Hidan had ever harmed his son.
Konan had been his motherly figure at the Akatsuki, mending his wounds whenever needed. It was around the age of eight, just before he took the chuunin exams for Amekegure that she really started to notice the abuse. In the presence of others it was just verbal jesting with hints of malice, but behind closed doors was where things really escalated.
It appeared that Takeo loved his father no matter what and that alone often erased any doubts one may have. But that should've been a warning sign. Once Konan figured out what Hidan was doing everything fell into place- Hidan had conditioned the boy to be dependent on him, making him believe he couldn't do anything without his only blood relative.
Takeo knew that it was stupid to trust someone like Hidan, the sadistic and insane individual that was the cause of all but a few of the scars littering his body. He wasn't a clumsy ninja, that much was enough to set the three members of the Akatsuk, off that he wasn't as happy as he appeared to be and was hiding something.
Pein on the other hand had done little to prevent such abuse within the Akatsuki, more often than not turning a blind eye even when the then seven year old boy had cried out for help. It was at the beginning of the abuse and the one and only time that Takeo had tried, and it inevitably failed to stop it.
