A Piece of Perfection

Chapter 3: The Run

CATHY'S POV

As they surrounded me I tried to escape. "Where ya gonna run, Catherine?" Clarice hissed at me. I didn't respond, I just stood there. "I got it. Why don't you run to the highway? That's where most accidents happen so don't worry you'd fit in." She laughed at her own joke. At that I was infuriated. At that point I wanted to kill her. So I punched her. Right in her pretty little fake face. I punched her. Hard. It felt good to finally get her back, well for two seconds at least.

She punched me back. She kicked me back. She kicked and punched and scratched and pulled my hair and pushed me back. I laid there helpless and cold. I regain a little strength then pulled myself up. I grabbed my bag crying. Run, I thought, just run. So I did. I ran out of the school and into my car. I didn't even put on my glasses. I just drove. There was only place I could think of to go, Starbucks.

No. Not because I'm a totally white girl but because I was supposed to meet Asher there. To my disappointment he wasn't there. It was earlier than what I had so I just walked for a little bit, but then I couldn't hold in the tears. I escaped to a near by alley and sat against the hard, cold wall and sobbed. And sobbed.

Then I found it. A piece of glass. I thought about it for a second then I settled. So there, I thought as I slit my wrists, you finally get what you deserve. I grabbed my wrist limiting the bleeding. Then a miracle came to rescue me. A piece of perfection.

ASHERS POV

When she finished her story I was stunned. Who would do such a thing. Such a terrible thing. A terrible thing to Cathy. Sweet, innocent Cathy. Then it hit me how terrible her life was. That this piece of perfection didn't have a perfect life. Before I even thought about it I blurted out the words.

"Run away with me."
