Imported Food
What is a unique problem Singapore faces in urban planting? The answer to that is because Singapore has TOO LITTLE LAND (farming area) of only 700km square. Because of this 90% of our food are IMPORTED from 160 countries. They will then be assembled in wholesale markets to be packaged and then sent to supermarkets. However, one looming problem is that our expenses of imported food have been INCREASING. This is because vegetables are flown in to Singapore (by plane) which is very expensive. Also, as the vegetables are PERISHABLES, they need to be stored in refrigerators or else they will spoil. This causes money too.
