Site of Bhutan: In the midst of the Himalayas. (has only 2% of land suitable for agriculture growth but still have alot of greenery)
- Though its site has made living in the nation challenging, Bhutan's situation has allowed it to maintain its policies of isolation as well as its own highly separated and traditionally religious culture

Advantages of having a site in mountains:
- water boils from a lower temperature due to higher altitudes.

Disadvantages of having a site in mountains:
- disconnected from the world (technology)
- affected by climate

Definition of Situation: Location of a place relative to its surroundings and other places.

What questions should we be asking about situations?
· How is this place connected?
· Is this place close to raw materials? Why is this question important?
· What other questions can you ask about the situation of a place?

Settlement patterns: Dispersed, linear, nucleated, ring, cross and planned.

Dispersed settlement patterns usually are areas of land which have a lot of growth, farming, agriculture.

Linear settlement patterns is a settlement or group of buildings that is formed in a long line. Many follow a transport route, such as a road, river, or canal need connection, have roads which can serve for trade. People in linear settlements find it easier and faster to get to certain locations because of how close the distance between their house and the road is.

Advantages of a linear settlement
- Easy access to roads
- Not having to walk far distances because the sidewalks are straight.
- Straight to destination
- Social (getting to know neighbours)
- Different sized buildings

Nucleated settlement patterns have people staying very close to each other (can protect one another, come together) , clustered settlement.
Advantages of a Nucleated Settlement Pattern
- more socialisation, therefore no boredom
- farmers can share ideas
travelling for trade purposes is much easier
- lives in safety
- easy access to basic commodities
